Volume fader automation with a pre fader reverb send.

Hi. Maybe this is a dumb question but, I have a pre fader send on the strings to reverb, and I already have some automation on the volume fader so when the volume fader moves it’s just giving the sense of going back on the reverb hall. What’s the best way of setting that up so everything feels like a normal volume change?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're after, but if you want the level of the reverb to maintain the same relationship with the dry signal level as you change the volume, you just need to change your send to Post, which is usually what you want for reverb.

The thing is that when turning the fader down you can have the feeling of the instrument going back on the stage. Sometimes I even get the fader to 0 while the reverb is still sounding. But I now have some automation in the fader so there will be differences between the reverb signal and the dry (volume fader) signal. I have figured that I could route the entire dry signal to a bus and then I add a send from that bus, to another bus where the reverb is. But I was wondering if there’s a better way of doing this. Thanks!

I'm still not sure what it is you want to do or the effect you are trying to get. Because the Send is PRE fader, moving the fader has no effect on the level of the send. They are independent of each other. If you want the level of the send to go down, and the amount of reverb to go down, when you move the volume fader down, you can change the Send to POST fader. When the Send is POST fader, moving the volume fader affects how much signal goes to the Send. Click PRE on the send to toggle it to POST.
