Vonn poised for worlds with another win

Vonn poised for worlds with another win

a true american superstar athelete, lindsey vonn WON the WORLD CUP OVERALL TITLE last year, along with bode miller.

the idea, that TWO americans, could be the best in the world in spite of european domination of this sport for almost forever, is very rare.

the fact that lindsey could take the title again for this season(barring unforeseens) is incredibly impressive.

one of our best atheletes, in ANY sport, you should check her out during these last couple of races of the season.

GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany -- Lindsey Vonn got a big confidence boost by sweeping the final two races before the World Championship.

Vonn completed a highly successful weekend on Sunday, mastering a demanding course for her first super-G win in two years after winning the slalom on Friday.

Her focus now turns to the worlds that start Tuesday in Val D'Isere, France, with another super-G.

With her fifth win of the season on Sunday, she also tied Tamara McKinney's U.S. women's record of 18 career victories.

"I feel very honored to be on the same level with Tamara," Vonn said.

By collecting a maximum 100 points from each of her last two races, Vonn has 1,114 points in her bid to defend her overall World Cup title. Maria Riesch of Germany, who finished fifth in her hometown race, remains second, 179 points behind.

"Lindsey will win the overall title and she's deserved it," Riesch said. "She is the best."

Vonn thought it was premature to talk about the overall title.

"There are a lot of races left and Maria will remain my toughest challenger," she said.

She seems like a fantastic athlete Bats but the problem with winning a World Skiing Championship is that it's all downhill after that

As per my other post - who died and made you manager of the GB Winter Olympics squad

You'll need to be a bit more hands on if you think Jon, Garry and I are going to be sliding around incompetently in the white stuff while you look on snug and warm in your John Motson castoffs and holding a cup of steaming Bovril.

Actions speak louder than words old bean - how about entering yourself in the luge, I have a metal tray you can borrow for practice.

    Now get with it..........

I'll be seeing you and the lads at training then.... make sure it's a big tray and not the one for doing ya Sunday roasts on..hehe

just 1 request... can you put an ashtray on the side? hehe

I was tempted to go for the job of Olympic manager.. .but then I discovered the gold medals didn't have chocolate (like the coins) soo it put me off

is it like football though? I mean if my parents aren't english .. can I go on their side? hehe

Vonn wins super-G gold at worlds

VAL D'ISERE, France -- American skier Lindsey Vonn won the super-G at the World Championships on Tuesday for her first major gold medal.

Vonn trailed early starter and local favorite Marie Marchand-Arvier midway down the Rhone-Alpes course but made up time on the Frenchwoman in the technical lower section.

"It's incredible to get my first gold medal. It's what I've worked for all my life," Vonn said. "It's my dream come true."

Jack's always welcome in Ireland, he's been made an honorary Irish man. I have 10000% more time for him that that *cough* Roy Keane, probably why I have no time for Man Utd. Ah well he didn't change much, just messed around Niall Quinn etc this time.. another person who I have time for.

Although Robbie Keane went back to Spurs, I don't think he should have left to be honest and I'm not a spurs supporter.

Batsbrew.. thats good, but I do feel a bit sad for people who didn't do so well at times. Imagine... working years for say 10 minutes of sport.. then not to get a medal..

    that's true fog...

you work so hard, for years, and catch an edge.
    boom, that's it.

of course, it just illustrates how big an achievement Vonn has made.

everyone has the same issues, and has to rise above the same obstacles.

it's amazing to me, that so many people don't even know about WC, and how huge it is in europe, and finally we've got this killer athelete that's representin', and all you see is a couple of lines on the back page of the sports section.....

BB what really annoys me morseo than that is when one person ends anothers career, by really injuring them.. that has happened in soccer over here a number of times.. it's a sport.. yet well some take it beyond that.

That good sir, is without doubt, the worst pun that's ever been punned since punning was invented Mr Pun in Pun Street, Punchester.

    Confused I am

I thought you meant this was your drumkit:

I use various tupperware containers for my toms, a metal biscuit tin for my snare and some saucepan lids for the cymbals.

Two large novelty pencils as sticks and I'm good to drum
