V-vocal adds " click" artifact with every pitch shift requiring manual correction
Hi folks,
Haven't been in here since Sonar V4 days, so I'm essentially a newbie (posted this originally in the wrong forum). I couldn't find an answer with the throttled search after 15 minutes or so, but I suspect this has been addressed before, so feel free to RTFF me :)
I have both Sonar X2 with V-Vocal and Presonus Studio One with 30-day trial of Melodyne. In the latter, when I pitch-shift a blob, it also correctly stretches the transient waveforms connecting the two adjacent blobs leaving zero artifacts. Just push it up and down... simple. Conversely, V-vocal picks up the selected waveform and merely moves it vertically, connecting the two adjacent pieces with straight vertical lines. This of course, results in a pop or click that is more or less noticeable but always annoying.
I've read all the "just smooth it out with the pencil", "sing it better to keep the corrections small", etc. but this is an absolute show-stopper for me. It tediously increases the time per correction by 2X-3X and still always leaves some artifact because my mouse hand isn't as good at producing audio waveforms as my voice.
Even though I find Melodyne better on several other fronts, I think v-vocal is sufficiently competent (and even better on some things like vibrato tool) for my modest needs that I don't feel compelled to buy Melodyne... except for this issue.
I have to think the good folks at Roland are aware of this fatal flaw. Or better yet, hoping one of you will point me at the "stretch transients, too" button (with an accompanying RTFM / RTFF... :) )
Thanks in advance!
