WDM works best- for now. I've been too cavalier about updates.

As I've posted, my system has been unstable for a few weeks.   Projects freezing and crashing when being opened and right after rendering, etc.
I'm using an Audient iD14 and a Focusrite 18i20 (what can I say, I'm a sucker for a lower-case "i")
Yesetrday, just to see what would happen, I tried using WDM drivers with my iD14, and performance and stability have been MUCH better.  I was actually really surprised that WDM drivers are compatible with the interface at all.  It also works well with MME on my laptop!
I'm hoping that an upcoming Windows update (or CW) will resolve the issues.  I've already re-installed all my software, so the problem lies elsewhere.
I'm just posting this in case it helps someone else.

See if there are updates for your audio interface drivers. This forum is littered with posts where updating audio interface drivers solved "SONAR doesn't work" issues.

I second that BIG TIME!!  I was having massive problems with SPLAT crashing constantly and I was cussing EVERYBODY in Boston and the surrounding area.  Turned out it was my Roland Quad Capture drivers.  I uninstalled them and now I'm running smooth as silk.

Wasn't there new WASAPI driver support with the latest SPlat update and Win 10?

I wonder if there's a correlation? (Perhaps WDM is now the same as WASAPI)?

    Thank you-
I already found and installed a firmware update for my iD14.
It resolved an issue, but not this one.
For the focusrite, I tried that weeks ago.

I was having similar problems with my Focusrite 2nd gen, contacted the support and they provided me a beta driver that resolved all the issues I was having.

    Thanks!
    I'll look into that.
Does it matter that mine is 1st generation?
