WHATS THE T THAT SHOW OVER THE W BUTTON?

After I installed X2a I noticed a small capital T in the right lower corner of the W (write automation) button in the track window. Whats that? They appear on all the tracks.

That shows that the automation write mode is in "Touch" Mode.
    That is the default.
    Change the mode in  inspector/Track/Automation.

    See this link:
    http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONARX2&Lang=EN&Req=Automation.04.html#1237426

If that link doesn't work then go to the online help and search for:
"Automation write modes (Producer and Studio only)"

Automation write modes (Producer and Studio only)
There are three modes available when writing automation: Overwrite, Touch, and Latch. The following table describes each mode.
    Overwrite

Overwrite mode overwrites any existing automation data for the currently armed parameter while the transport is rolling, even if you don’t touch the parameter. Any previous automation is erased. This mode is useful if you want to set some parameters to their desired write positions before you press Play.
Only the parameter currently shown in the track’s Edit Filter.
    Touch

Touch mode overwrites any existing automation data for the currently armed parameter only when the parameter is moved with the mouse or a MIDI controller. Automation writing stops when the parameter is released, and the parameter returns to any previously automated position. This mode is useful if you want to update a previous write pass, appending new automation data only where desired. When using a touch-sensitive MIDI controller, new automation data will only overwrite existing automation data when you physically touch a control.
All automation data on the track.
    Latch

Latch Mode is similar to Touch mode; new automation data overwrites existing automation data when you move a control. However, when you release the parameter, it will remain “latched” into its current position and continue to overwrite any existing automation data until playback stops. This mode is useful if you want to start writing automation only after a parameter is moved. This mode is particularly useful for automating pan controls and plug-in parameters when using a non-touch sensitive control surface (because it does not revert to its previous position when you release a control).
All automation data on the track

I was confused by this as well-- it wasn't covered in the (over 9-hour) SWA Complete SONAR X2 Tutorial video... Thank you Mike for clearing it up and thank you Wayne for starting the thread!

Sorry if I've missed that I thought I'd mentioned it but maybe not. I assume you are referring to the graphic on the button as the modes themselves and how they work are definitely covered. (8:39:36) It might have been taken out at the editing stage. Believe it or not some things were pulled (by me) to reduce the time, I'm not sure if anything was pulled at the production stage.

Automation will be thoroughly covered in the SONAR X2 Power! book in Chapter 12. As a matter of fact, I'm working on that chapter now.
