Beagle Why didn't the survey ask if I liked cheese with my whine? All DAW owners perfer cheese over crackers! Fixed!

So that's a resounding no vote against my proposition for a "crippled" analyser, from the massed ranks of "everybody", who've long since given up using the console view. Once again, Bub has accurately taken the pulse of the user community.

That's a nice photo of the wonders of erosion and limestone uplift. I live in a karst plain region as well, it's called the Woodville Karst Plain and it has similar dome hills although the near 100% tree cover makes it difficult to view as such. The domes frequently have a sink at the top which can take the form of a small isolated swamp or pond like in my backyard or as dramatic sinkhole such as Big Dismal or the Devil's Millhopper. It's my hope to someday visit the similar hills in Cuba... I hear they are spectacular, and unspoiled by development or foresting. I happen to be up in Birmingham today and found myself up on Red Mountain at dawn working a gig. I wiki'd the Red Mountain while I was up there and found it really interesting. It is part of the end of the Appalachian Chain and the ridges are formed by erosion that left linear hills running for hundreds of miles. They look much different from the domes mentioned above. The domes are formed by a localized bulging uplift after the weight of the overlay has eroded away, where as the ridges up here in Birmingham are formed by cutting erosion that flows down stream beds. It turns out that Red Mountain is a chunk of hard iron ore and the surrounding valleys have extensive coal beds... and that's why Birmingham is where it is. I love learning about this stuff. Hey John, if you ever want to visit I can take you hiking up in the foothills of Georgia where some of the oldest exposed rock formations on the planet stick out of the dirt. I enjoy it up there a lot. If you want I can even show you the world famous Tallulah Gorge where they filmed Deliverance. regards, mike

I received the survey... I also ask for DAW implementations (like PAN and clips fade in/out improvements) But I will like (and buy) a good de-esser, a tape emu, other comp models, etc... ( I am addicted to it ). I wrote wiil be nice to have the VST full version of those, like SofTube has. That is it for me.

Whats going on here, I can't belive that this topic is still going. Mike what has happened to you, you seem bitter and twisted and here I thought I was the bitter and twisted one. Ok I'm still a little drunk!! Personally I liked some of the idea's put forth in the survey, esp a tape sim even though the old one still works and the softtube KNOB does the same job (to my ears anyway). THe only gripe I had with the survey was they were not offering a prize, come on 30% of a few synths not good enough, I wanted to go into a draw to win a prize. Esp because as soon as I got the email, I did the survey. Where is the prize draw, it would have been nice if they put up the SoftTube bundle as an incentive!! Ok come on Cake all of us who did your survey, where is the prize draw??? Peace Ben

I'm a bit confused here. Is the interface too big or is it too small? It seems the goalposts keeping moving to fit some sort of agenda. I think I've seen that tactic somewhere before, just can't remember where.

It's quite a barrel scrape on the old must-find-something-anything-to-complain-about front, isn't it? "These guys, I don't like the way they make a survey". Jesus - I am informed - wept. Some things are probably worth arguing the toss about, but this, I think, merits no more than a "Wind your neck in you tiresome windbag".

A strange thing happened today. I got the survey - it arrived at my work e-mail address, but not at my home one. All my dealings with Cakewalk have always been from my home address, so where they got my work one from is a bit of a mystery.

It's the same guys as who track you down to force you to use the ProChannel. They know where you work. They know where you live. They've got snipers on the roof. The minute you fire up a VST, it's goodnight Jonesey. I'd fill in the survey if I was you. And make sure you give the right answers.

I read this thread back to front...just for the novelty of it. It makes just about as much sense as it does front to back. And, as someone who also lives a mite too close to deliverance territory, I take (very minor) umbrage at the reference. You fellers wear me down to a nub tho. And over not very much. But go on with your bad selves. Any entertainment is better'n no entertainment. PS: I too kinda like ol JTs analyser thingy. A great "quick" visual reference. PPS: I got the dang survey but haven't taken it yet...I will now.

It's real simple: All of the questions seemed to presume I'd be buying more effects. The questions inquired about preferred formats, and my interest in specific types of effects rather than asking if I am interested in buying any effects. I'm not... and I'm certainly not buying any effects from a company that hasn't finished making the DAW I've been paying for for 15 years. If that simple and most basic question was asked then I could have expressed that within the format of the survey. I filled it out and then posted this comment because the survey was not effective at gauging or representing my actual and specific interests. When I posted this: It was meant to serve as an example of a multi channel analysis tool that has existed on the market place for many years. It allows you to overlay and compare the output of multiple channels. It's also free. best regards, mike

It may amaze you to hear this - shock you even - but the survey isn't trying to find out what *you* think. It's trying to build up a general picture of what users en masse think about a given topic. Finding what you specifically think isn't that useful to anyone.
