Want to delete empty time at beginning of song
I have a song with multiple midi and audio tracks. Is there a simple way to get rid of 40 seconds of empty space at the beginning of the song? For some reason I cann't just select all the tracks and drag everything left. Also, is there a simple way to place my current time indicator in an arbitrary spot and force Sonar to treat that as the end of the song? Thanks (Sonar Producer X2)

You could drag a clip all the way back to the beginning, select every track, split the track where you want it to start and them under the edit menu select delete. It's either that or delete special. When the dialog box appears, check that box that say's "delete hole".

Thanks - that sort of worked - but I'd adjusted my volume curves on a few clips, and those volume curves didn't move with the rest of the track on Special Delete.

It should move the automation if "Track/Bus Automation" is checked in the Delete Special dialog. There is also a separate option for Clip Automation.

Make sure all tracks are selected by dragging down them, then select the region in the time ruler you want to remove and use 'Cut special...', make sure that the 'Delete hole' option is checked. Note: if you only select the time ruler region without selecting all tracks to be affected, it won't work as you require. [edit] Thinking about it, you might need a dummy clip in the region you want to remove, I'm not quite sure as I've not used this technique on completely empty space before.

Be careful if you're dragging clips to the left - any tempo changes, meter/key changes, markers etc will NOT get moved. Much simpler is to simply select all tracks, then select the time range in the ruler, then delete > special and make sure "delete hole" is checked. Note: This will only work if you have at least one Midi event in the range to be deleted - if there's none there, enter something manually and proceed as above.
