Anyone have IR-Live? Worth $100 or nah? Does it come with IR's or purchase separably? I was reading and it seems it comes with some but you can buy more. Or am I just over tired and confused again? Mike

Thanks Larry. I know it says Live but can find a spot in the studio too. IR-1 = $500 IR-L = $250 IR- Live = $99 Not sure how many IR's come with this and that link will let you DL if you own IR1. Well there were 3 or 4 free ones. Not sure I want to risk DL-ing from other IR sites and not having them work. Probably pass but would be nice to have access to some quality IR's from Waves. They have Plate 250/140, spring, DHX 90........... I have to write and see if I get access to all the impulses or only if I own IR-1 Damn you Larry Mike

Mike, I have IR-L and I have access to the Impulses... So I would believe...since the $99 is an INTRO price (normally $250) that you would get access... BTW...it's $84.99 at Audio Deluxe...

I imagine a meeting in the Waves boardroom... Engineer: "We've got this new reverb, but it's nothing special." Marketer: "Not special? We in marketing don't believe in that concept! Surely, it's good for something? Think!" Engineer: "Well, I guess it would be good enough to use on a P.A. or something" Marketer: "There you go! We'll call it 'IR LIVE' and convince those rubes that it's different from the convolution reverbs they already own." V.P. of Marketing: "It's settled then. It goes 'on sale' in February."

LOL Bit. Believe it or not the only convo reverb I have is Perfect Space. I'm not really a fan. Perfect Space from what I remember is a CPU intense, lite version of Voxengo's Pristine Space. And for the same price I can get the IR live which is 64 bit and the GUI is just a tad more intuitive. @ Larry. I won't be getting this till next week so if Mr. Bapu doesn't give ya the down-low on it by then.......I'll consider it. Mike

I think it's pretty shrewd trying to expand their market base. Plugin use is no longer restricted to home or studios. Marketed as 'LIVE'- for FOH mixing, lo-latency, no audio dropouts or glitches when switching in or between other presets. Needed? that's another question. Lo-latency would appeal to me if I did. edit @ Mike: I have Pristine Space too. I used all the time until I started working with SONAR x64 a few years ago & it started crashing. Alexsey's been asked for a 64b version of it for a few years now. Unfortunately I think he's late to the party. If he released something like 'LIVE' today at this price it would probably be a big hit for him.

If they've indeed found a way to make a truly low-latency convolution reverb, that would mean they've discovered a new way to do convolution reverb.

IIRC low-latency applies when several convo plugins are used with SoundGrid. Not the actual process. The reason why IR-LIVE was released is to hype that imo. (btw when are they planning to have these forum issues fixed?)
