Waves NLS Non-Linear Summer released

I'll certainly demo them - but I'll wait until I can justify the expense because it's likely that I won't want to be w/o them once I try, as was the case w/ Kramer TTT and the CLA classics.

Not for everyone I'm sure but there's a 7 day demo you can try.
It's a simple install, straight forward design, easy to use, nice features.

Trying it out using on a stem mix project with the Mike Hedges console -nice full vibe to it.
No crashes or issues yet. Next I'll a mix using 30 or so instances to see how it handles resources though & to hear what this is capable of.

Carl: Thanks for putting it through its paces.  Do let us know what you think, and if possible how it compares to its chief competition: the VCC.

I am very interested in how this compares to VCC.  Hopefully several veterans around here will chime in along with Carl and let us know the strengths and weaknesses of this NLS.   I will certainly download the demo and try it out for the 7 day period to see if it really is something that shines and out performs the VCC. 


If it is as good as promised, I will probably buy it once it hopefully goes on sale sometime in the future, maybe Christmas.  

I'm sure it's cool stuff, don't get me wrong, but it's basically amp sims, right? So there are so many channel strips, compressors, saturation plugs, transient shapers, etc... I guess it's difficult for me (personally) to get excited about laying out that kind of coin for 3 amp sims? No disrespect intended, so please don't take any.

On your system it will probably show what it shows in Zo's video 12 tracks next to 25% on one processor and next to nothing on the other ones.

When comparing these you need to still mix into these yourself to hear the results on your own material. You can't just slap them on a mix . It affects how you mix altogether so A/B online audio files won't help you much either.
briefly imo:
VCC: open, wider, high freq. detail,  slighty less cpu useage, text function buggy/ crashes in X1, push more with less distortion
NLS:  great design & function, non-iLok , narrower stereo image than VCC , push less to get more effect/ distortion/ saturation (Nevo was the only console I was impressed with)
Neither do any summing, your daw does that.  For saturation & character I'm more impressed with the new Kush UBK-1 
Right now the lowest price for NLS is $209.00, imo a bit high.
