Waves Plugin Dilemma - Need old projects to recognize new version of pluigins!

On my old system I used Sonar 7 and an older version of Waves plugins that still used the Direct X plugin format.

Lately I built a new up-to-date i7 system that has Sonar X2 and I've upgraded all my Waves plugins to the 64-bit version.

The main problem is that I can't get my old projects that used the Waves plugins to use the new plugins when I load them in. Not only have the plugin format changed (DX to VST) and 32 bit are now 64 bit, but the naming of the plugins have been altered ("RComp" vs "R Compressor"). Still the old plugins have their newer versions loaded on my computer, but it's almost as if they're totally different plugins. How do I fi this short of starting all over again with my effects settings? I just want to have my old projects recognize the new plugins with the same levels/settings.

They are totally different plug ins.  DXi and VST are two different animals completely.  AFAI can tell, you are going to have to manually change them.

Hmmm, did anyone here have a method for saving the presets or changing the plugins?

I ran in to that problem with the Samplitude Master last time I built a DAW, it was annoying to have to re-enter everything on my new machine.

I'm close to being able to start a new DAW build here and will have to update my Waves plug-ins, I'll likely run into the same problem as you.

Say, how do you like your ASRock X79 Xtreme4? That's the board I'm hoping will work with my old frontier design dakota/montana pci cards for a end of life usage. If it'll work, I'll save about $1000. But, I have yet to find a single user who's tried these cards in this MB. <sigh>

Yep, there different effects so there is no way to have you old project recognise the new plugins as the new plugins are not in your old project

Presets are located in Waves .xps files.
