Waves Tune LT and Sonar

I know that Waves Tune LT does not work with Sonar (or at least nobody has reported success so far).
Last night when I tried, I was able to make the plugin GUI appear after inserting it in Sonar.
Sonar was able to sync with the plugin when I hit the play button and when I clicked on the plugin's piano roll; I did hear the notes being played. But there was one catch though . The plugin was not able to scan and display the audio waveform in its GUI.
Did anyone get this far? I am on Vista32 and I wondered if it might work OK on a XP machine when used on a proper voice track.

Here's what I did if anyone wants to try:
1) Inserted the Waves Rewire plugin
2) Inserted the Waves Tune LT Stereo vst plugin into the FX bin of an audio track.
3) Opened the vst plguin by double clicking it. An empty GUI showed up. Closed and reopened, the GUI showed up now.

Thanks and Regards
Chander

Interesting topic as I recently addressed this myself. I have a XP sp2 machine and was told by a Cakewalk rep that the Waves Tune and De-breath effects would work in Sonar 7 in XP. Haven't had a need to yet.

Should note, this was a district rep not a customer service rep.

FYI - Waves claims that their Tune products are not compatible with Sonar.

Anybody get Tune LT working with Sonar 7?

I was thinking of updating my old Gold Bundle. No reason for me to do so if Tune LT doesn't work.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Tune LT is not bad (I have it too) ... but a (extremly) cut down version of Tune Native. Why spend time with it when you got Roland V-Vocal in Sonar 7 PE? It does an excellent job too. And has no restrictions.

    Thomas,

    Thanks for the response.

    I have S7 Studio, so no V-Vocal.

I haven't upgraded my Waves bundle in years, so I would get a couple new plugins (that they have since added to the bundle) such as Doubler, Tune LT, and a few others.

So does Tune LT work in Sonar 7 for you?

    Thanks,

There's way more reasons to go from Gold to Platinum than the L-Tune thingie really. For one, you get all the ren plugs, which are worth it in and of themselves probably, plus L3 and some other niceties.

From some experimentation with Waves RT on a friend's system, I would honestly say that the Celemony Melodyne plugin kicks the crap out of it. V-Vocal is even better (and it's included with sonar).

Ian - I am guessing from your earlier post about compatibility that your friend wasn't using Sonar? When you say V-vocal is better are you saying from quality of results point of view? or ease of use?

Dean - does Waves Tune work okay for you in Sonar 7? (as in work at all - Ian's earlier post is on the mark that according to Waves' compatibility chart on their website Waves Tune does not work in Sonar.)

    Thanks,

    Hi urock,

sorry, I cannot say how Tune works in Sonar ... I used it in only 3 or 4 sessions ... with Pro Tools. And it really made trouble: high latency, bad sync with project (via separate Waves Tune Rewire Plugin!) ... really horrible integrated. I tried it in Live 5 and Live 6 ... bad bad bad. Tried it in Acid Pro 6 ... not running well.

I strongly suggest to: Melodyne (now also avaiable as an plugin) or go for Sonar Producer Edition.

I love all my Waves Plugs (Platinum Bundle User + V Series) .... but Waves Tune is the one I will spend no time with.

Actually ... cause waves does not offer any newer Waveshell for Vista .... I only can use Platinum Bundle under Vista. Newer plugins (V-Series, L3 LL, Tune) simple fail when trying to register as DX Plugin and do not run. Still have to wait ,-)

    Greetings

I checked Waves compatibility chart to make sure. It does say Sonar is not supported.
Interestingly both Cubase 4.02 and Cubase Sx 3.1 are supported as vst hosts.
How come? I am sure Cakewalk's VST implementation is as per the latest released spec.
Maybe it is because of rewire compatiblity? As I mentioned I am able to bring up the Waves Tune LT GUI in sonar 7 without any problems. The only issue is that the plugin is not able to access the audio stream.

And by the way, in the Waves download page for Platinum/PC/Sonar, it says "Waves Tune LT is supported by your host application". Mut have been a typo.

I never tried it since it was pretty explicitly listed as not workable under SONAR.

thank you everyone--you just saved me a long time learning how to use re-wire. I thought I had to buy reason or something.
