Wavesound7 works but GT Pro4 does not

Wavesound7 works but GT Pro4 does not

I have a new SB vx card, using Guitar Tracks pro 4 (new).  The input is an expensive condenser mike and mixing desk, and the output through the same card is a headphone set.  Recording produces garbled results.  If I change my settings to use a USB headphone the recording is great and so is the microphone output.  If I use Waveform7 I can record and hear perfectly, with GT4pro everything as I said before is garbled. What is happening here?  All help would be very much appreciated.  Thanks

    Hi there John, welcome to the forum.
     
    I'm not sure if it's the case with newer Soundblaster cards, but if I remember correctly, quite a lot of people have had similar problems to what you're experiencing.
     
    What was happening is that Guitar Tracks operates by default at a sample rate of 44.1kHz whereas the SB cards were fixed at 48kHz - this mismatch in sample rates caused the effect you seem to be hearing.
     
    I don't know if you can change the sample rate on your soundcard but if you can, try setting it to 44.1kHz; if not, try setting GTPro4 to 48kHz - Options > Audio and click on the General tab.
     
    If you later want to burn your songs to CD, you'll have to export from GTPro4 at 44.1kHz/16bit - you can render your mixed down project to these values in the options window when you choose File > Export > Audio

    Thanks Steve.  I will try it at the weekend.  I had Guitar Tracks Pro 2 and an old soundblaster card years ago and they seemed to coexist pretty well.  Who decided to change the standard?  Also I wonder why did GT Pro not keep up with this change, and why does one part of the GTPro package work well when GTPro4 itself does not?
