We ain't going nowhere...

Yippee!!! :) Or as that comedian puts it - "In terms of like, instant relief, cancelling plans is like heroin."

For the coming week off in early September, my wife had a bunch of different plans involving flying a friend here from Canada, renting a house in L.A. and keeping really busy enjoying her vacation. But due to a series of circumstances, everything has been cancelled and we get to just stay home.

I love home. It's the best thing. I'm here 166 hours a week and I still can't seem to get enough.

The one things I was looking forward to was to visit Randy Rhoads' grave on our way to L.A. Oh well, maybe next year.

Even better: as a circumstance, we'll finally get around to do some work in the studio during that week - paint and some of the sound treatment.

Happy. :)

+1 on staying home Rain!!

I prefer to stay away from all that racket in dealing with obnoxious drivers, crowded shops, busy city life, people etc....I'm sooooo content with staying in our new home (just moved in two weeks ago) and enjoying the peace/quiet.
Of course, I'm getting ready to buy a lawn mower + some yard tools to maintain the property, but I don't mind that (eventhough it's not my cup of tea).
Also, another reason for staying home is I don't like to have seperation anxiety from my DAW/gaming machine......it needs me.

I don't really miss mowing the lawn - my summer jobs as a student seemed to revolve around that for years - but I could see how one may find a certain serenity in such work as we grow a bit older. But I do appreciate my "desert landscape".

Leaving my home studio and my instruments behind is a constant source of worries - I guess separation anxiety would be the appropriate term, yes.

You're too young to be a shut-in Rain. Get your butt out the door and experience life. Go to the desert and paint or do something that makes you uncomfortable. Life is funny. One day you may not be able to enjoy the world on your terms.

Not slagging you, just pointing out that you have to get out while the getting's good. I wish I had done more when I was younger and had no serious medical problems.

I understand what you mean because I've been a shut-in for quite a few years and I've missed on quite a few things. But  from the moment I moved in 2009 until May of last year, we were pretty much always on the road.

There's a in-between - when I do have time to spend with my wife, then I force myself out and try to do things. And there's quite a lot to do around here - museums and parks and ranches.

Plus, I need not worry too much about having uncomfortable things put on my schedule. There's a always a trip to San Diego or an afternoon in the desert that's likely to be scheduled - not to mention the constant menace of having to fly back to Quebec for Holidays...

Me too!
I'm a home body Rain.

Sure I love my 2 motorcycles, lakes, mountains and ski hills, but home is where all my musical instruments are and my recording set up and DAW as well.

I can stay home for days & days - even weeks at a time, and not get itchy feet.

I have so many hobbies, that staying home is always the preferred option.
Air travelling has become such a drag with all the security menace, extra luggage charges etc., that having to go to an airport is good enough reason to cancel the trip :o)

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

The city that people think of when they hear the name Las Vegas - which is mostly the strip - is actually pretty different from what it is for its residents.

That Las Vegas is the last place we would have expected to land, and given the choice, we wouldn't have picked it.

But when we moved from our tiny condo downtown to our house at The Lakes, we fell in love w/ Vegas. Off the strip, it's actually a very lovely place, one which hopefully we'll never have to leave.

It's funny you mention it because there are indeed quite a few of those places. Every time we see those, my wife and I just look at each other smiling and say "Meth Lab on the left" or "Breaking Bad".

But where we live is nice. When we first drove into this part of the city, our first thought was "Beverly Hills".

The typical house around here looks something like this... Though there's much more greenery on our little street.
