We never got a ripple edit indicator.

The other night I copied 4 measures to double the chorus with ripple edit all on. Went well.
Saved the file and quit for the night.
The next night I was doing a vox track. I screwed up and split the vox at the part before the mistake, highlit the bad down stream clip and hit the delete key to wipe it out. Backed up and tried singing that part again. When I came to where the split happened the music changed to a part that was not correct. What? I played it again. Bad. so I ctrl-z'ed my delete and saw both the vox clip come back but also saw the back tracks undo something too. It played ok now.

I sat there for a second staring at the gui when it hit me.
Turned off the ripple editing that was turned on from the day before and continued on.

Darn it.

sounds like ripple-edit-mode functions aren't registering in the history correctly? it could be connected to older similar
    history-related bugs

Ha I fall prey to this too, as well as forgetting that "select envelope with clips" is turned on. Yep we could have really done with clear indicators of these functions being on/off instead of being buried in menus.

A custom cursor overlay on the mouse pointer that says "Hey moron" to clue us in that we left something on would be good.

I always said that when offset mode is engaged, a huge  "BEWARE - OFFSET MODE" message should flash right in the middle of the screen. 72pt font or something like that. Bright yellow.

Offset mode does have an indicator.

A very small one, which is easy to miss if you're not looking for it.

The oil light on a car is also small .... but at least its there and you have to get used to checking for it.  Ripple Edit is easier to miss

There is a another serious long-standaing problem with Offset Mode. When you have used it on a track and then switched back to normal mode, there is that there is nothing to indicate that it has been applied. You need to make a note of it, otherwise you are likely to forget about it. I've got a bad memory so it's no good to me.

Yeah that always seemed like a pretty bad miss to me. Only ever used it the once until I discovered that when moving frozen synth clips in instrument tracks it didn't also move the underlying midi, so unfreeze a few synths for tweakage and suddenly you're all over the place. That was enough for me to pretend it didn't exist and carry on the way I always had.

The one that will always annoy me most is that they somehow broke the undo function and never fixed it. Hard to believe that was a difficult fix, but it just got ignored.
