Weird coincidence or somebody toying with a playlist?

Ok, if I didn't know that the music channels on my DirecTV (Sonic TAP) weren't just randomly played songs from a genre-based jukebox, I'd say this combo tonight was a complete setup!
 
Yes, I'm listening to their "Flashback/New Wave" channel - bite me. 
 
I've had it on for about three hours then this pair on songs play back-to-back:  "Space Oddity" by David Bowie followed immediately by "Major Tom (Coming Home)" by Peter Schilling!
 
For those that don't get the significance, the song by Peter was created as a response to Bowie's song.  Here are both:

    I've always loved the synths and chugging guitar on Major Tom.  Great chorus too.

    I wrote a follow up to "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling". It's called "I'm Bringing Back That Loving Feeling"
     
    It's the 9th song on THIS PAGE.
     
    No one ever plays that song after the Righteous Brothers' track.

    Well it's no wonder!  (I got burnt out from hearing that RB song during Top Gun.)
