Weird problem when importing audio

Hi,

I'm trying to import a perfectly normal .wav file into a project, but the clip gets dropped at 4 hours (!) on the track view. I'm baffled... Can someone explain?

thx

Yes.  It will be a broadcast wav with a time stamp.  Simply disable the "Load bwf at designated time stamp..." option.

It's in preferences - file - audio data.

Many people, including The Mighty Konrad, have been baffled by this before.  In my case, I did not even know where the files were going: they seemed to disappear.  I was loading some simple sound effects.  Some would drop into the right place and some would go off to Never-Never Land.  Took quite a while to figure out.

It is incredible that loaindg at the broadcast time is the default.  I can't imagine how often that option is useful.

Believe it or not, this only happens with wave files that were exported using other DAW software. You can try it yourself. Export a Broadcast Wave out of Sonar, than re-import it back in and it will be perfect.

The problem (at least this is where I think it happens) is usually from MAC's using Pro Tools or Logic. There is something in the way they process wave files that makes this happen. All clients that send me waves from PT especially, come in an hour or longer into a Sonar project. Logic sometimes does this as well. But all other Window's DAW programs seem to be perfect while using BW's in my experience. :)
