Weird problems with freeze/unfreeze.
I just got back to some music time again after many months and am having problems which seems to be after unfreezing. Basically I freeze a vsti and the resulting audio is fine. Later, I unfreeze to make an edit and the notes are all now changed in length and position (in the measure) as if some sort of quantise has taken place. This has happened a dozen or more times now in this project, and not just on one vsti but several. Sonar crashed for an unknown reason at one point and I thought to put on autosave which I have not used before now. I am not sure if the problem started after initiaing autosave or not. Any thoughts please appreciated?

Beagle I haven't seen anything like this before. what softsynth are you freezing and unfreezing? It was happening on Korg MonoPoly, Polysix, NI Massive, PPG3.V.

you might want to send the minidump created by sonar crash to tech support and see if they know what might have happened.

Good idea, will do. It wasn't every unfreeze it happened, just every now and again.

Just searched and no Minidump was created - the last one was from many months ago.

may be a long shot, but maybe it has something to do with your RAM. you've only got 2G and the synths you mention are pretty hard core resouce hogs.

I actually ordered 4Gb earlier today and have a quad core coming too so that will help things in general. I would have thought, but correct me if I am wrong, that once frozen they would release their resources? I only unfroze one or two at a time. One problem was on a simple pattern of 1/8 notes alternating a note an octave apart (i.e., E3, E4, E3, E4 on 1/8 notes). After unfreezing, both E3 and E4 filled the whole bar as 1/16 notes! Other times it seemed to quantize the notes to 1/4 note for position and length, (for example, an 1/8 note followed by 2 1/16 notes would end up as 3 different 1/4 notes with the same start point).

yes, once frozen they no longer use the resources. and I'm not sure that more RAM would help, especially when you're seeing the bizzare problem you're seeing about the note values changing. like I said, it is a long shot.
