Well if I had the Manual (PDF)

x3 came with a huge PDF manual...
I don't seem to see a document manual (PDF) file. If it is in the Help & Tutorials I really don't need a ton of stuff downloading.

I read a lot faster if I can open the full document and not have to weed through links...
Do you have one?

thank you.

I just ran Command Center, and for Platinum there are updates available, one of which seems to include 'Local Documentation'.

That might mean that a help file for download might be available.

Hope that helps,

The PDF was part of the Braintree update.

You needed to update the Sonar Help and Tutorials element to receive it.

Yes, the full PDF as of this update, all 2000 + pages, is included in the Braintree update.

8.5 had the best help files, I've not had any love for the way it's done now as my DAW is not on line and my internet is slow...

To get the PDF manual for Platinum I had to download from Command center "Sonar Help and Tutorials"
. . . it's over 1 GB to download, wish they could just post it somewhere so you don't have to download stuff you don't want.

Cakewalk by Bandlab, Cubase, RME Babyface Pro, Intel i7 3770K @3.5Ghz, Asus P8Z77-VPro/Thunderbolt, 32GB DDR3 RAM, GeForce GTX 660 Ti, 250 GB OS SSD, 2TB HDD samples, Win 10 Pro 64 bit, backed up by Macrium Reflect, Novation Impulse 61 Midi Key Controller, Tannoy Active Near Field Monitors, Guitars by Vantage, Gibson, Yamaki and Ovation.

If you used the default paths (64 bit), then the PDF should be in C:Program Files/Cakewalk/Sonar Platinum(Or Professional or Artist).

You don't need to have the internet.  In Preferences just set it to local help in the advanced menu.

I too would like to just have a download link to the manual so I could just download the manual on my laptop at home and take it to the studio on a flash drive.

If you goto your account its there within the Cakewalk help and tutorials package under platinum. C3 will download it and install it but you can skip C3 if you wish. Also once installed the PDF can be copied and pasted to any drive on any computer or flash drive.  I fully recommend the reference guide it is solidly written and a pleasure to read.

Hi John . . . I'm not seeing the Sonar Platinum PDF manual in "My Account" as a separate download, it must be buried very deep where we can't see it ?  Anyways, I managed to download it from Command Centre along with the Tutorial and Help stuff, but do you have any suggestions how we get rid of the over 1GB of Tutorial stuff we didn't want to add to our tiny SSD drives, since the PDF manual is embedded inside of the EXE install file ?

Re: Well if I had the Manual (PDF) 2015/03/13 22:42:55 (permalink)
It IS buried in the tutorials download.  I too would rather not have to download 1.3GB to get a 50MB file.  I don't need the tutorial files.  I get online thru my phone and 1.3 GB is a lot of data.  That's why it would be nice to be able to just get the manual as a separate file.  Maybe something they will consider in the near future :) .

I did say where it was. It is not an independent file but within the help and tutorial package. The parts you don't want can be moved or deleted after the install.

Keep in mind I am just relating information I have no control on how CW has packaged the downloads. For me it was no big deal but I fully understand how others may view it. No pun intended perhaps.

Thanks John, may have missed the "pun" in your response ? . . . but I've looked through the many "Cakewalk" directories, on my many drives, and can't seem to find where the 1GB+ of Tutorial + Help stuff got added, would really love to delete it if I could find it, perhaps someone from Cakewalk that knows could respond ?

The manual should have been installed in your Sonar Platinum directory. That is C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Sonar Platinum. The tutorials would be in C:\Cakewalk Content\Sonar Platinum\Tutorial Projects.

Pun was a silly note on the use of the word "view" in reference to a PDF. Thats why I said "perhaps". LOL

Thanks so much John and mudgel . . . it's not actually on my C: drive . . . but you've helped me locate it on one of my other drives - - -> E:\SONAR X2\Cakewalk Content\SONAR Platinum\Tutorial Projects . . . deleting now.
