Well, the latest Windows update FINALLY killed Sonar Platinum....
I knew it was coming, I just didn't know when. R.I.P. old version of Sonar Platinum. Updated a few days ago, bought Bias 2 for my guitar tracks.....next day, most of my projects wouldn't even open and I got, "do you want to send a report to Cakewalk, blah blah" and the fault reporter error. SOOOO.... now I'm downloading the "new" version of Sonar Platinum. What's the consensus around here?

I'm running the latest Windows 1803 update, and Sonar Platinum still works fine for me. Even though that is the latest version of Sonar Platinum, Sonar X1 and X3 both work fine for me too. It's more likely your audio drivers and/or video drivers need re-installing.

yeah, quite a few users here have had to re-install drivers. Windows updates have a nasty habit of breaking them. I've had to reinstall both my Scarlett 18i20 drivers and my MidiSport drivers. Everything works fine now.

It could be your new plugin causing the crash. Try opening your project in Cakewalk "safe" mode. http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/tip.asp?ID=10 1. When opening a project using one of the methods described earlier, hold down the Shift key on your computer keyboard. This tells SONAR to open the project in Safe Mode and displays the File Open - Safe Mode dialog box. 2. If your project contains any plug-ins assigned to your tracks, the Safe Mode dialog box will ask you whether you want to load the plug-ins. You have four choices: Yes, Yes to All, No, and No to All. Choosing Yes will load the currently displayed plug-in. Choosing No will not load the currently displayed plug-in. Choosing Yes to All will close the dialog box and load all plug-ins. Choosing No to All will close the dialog box and open the project without any plug-ins.

That also happened to me when the Windows 10 1803 update came through. I had also held off updating for as long as it would let me. I did a full image backup before I let it do its thing! Fortunately, I had already read on these forums that another person with a Steinberg Interface needed to re-install the Yamaha Steinberg interface drivers afterwards (even though they appeared OK). I know your interface is different but it still might require re-installation. The first sign of a problem was when I ran Cakewalk by Bandlab (CbB). It gave a prompt like you get when installing a program not executing it! I cancelled that and then re-installed the Yamaha Steinberg drivers and voila! CbB ran fine and incidentally so did SPlat (I still have both installed). Other things that have required re-installing were the Addictive Drums 2 Installation Manager. It also thinks you are running it on a different computer after the update so you have to re-register or add the existing computer again to your XLN account.

The only thing I had to do (like we all know so well) is re authorize my computer for XLN. Nothing else seemed to go amiss. I just opened X3e and it still works.
