I'm starting a 20 gallon aquarium to look at while I'm in my studio--so I'm just asking for gift certificates to Petsmart.

I've sort of spread mine out over the past month or so, but here's the list:
- Mac Pro 2.8GHz
- New video card for the crap one that came with the Mac Pro (but better/cheaper than the Apple upgrades)
- KRK 10" sub
- 8 absorption panels of various sizes and thickness
- Most of the Galbanum products
- A midi drum pad for banging out drum parts instead of hitting the black and white keys or clicking the mouse (more for my son, but I picked one up with velocity and midi so I could use it too)

Not a bad year.

Still need some diffusion, 2 or 3 proper bass traps, and a mic for my trumpet.
Thinking of taking up the guitar too.
Maybe for my birthday?

Pro Tools 8 and UAD 5.2!!!!

Doubly excited about Pro Tools 8 as it is free to me since I bought an Mbox2 Mini within their amnesty period. Great when I want to go (highly) mobile and have to use Pro Tools.

Of course, I much prefer the Fireface800 and Presonus Digimax setup I use with Sonar in the studio.

Peace,

Yea, I have a negative aversion to snails in general because of what they do to my garden. I like the little algae eater catfish.

Thanks,

I'm taking advantage of the 2 for 1 deal on the EZX expansion packs for EZ Drummer - thats what I got myself..lol

my girlfriend got me ?..told her to get music stuff but shes scared..lol

I think she got me some Bad Religion memorabilia - which is really cool - they are one of my favorite bands - saw her looking at it on ebay

my mom probably got me clothes - Grandma gave me a gift certificate for Wally world and I got one from work too

they all get scared when I ask for mics and software - they are afraid they'll buy the wrong thing apparently
even if I write it down and show them on websites..sheesh ..how many hints can a guy give..lol

Ha! Looks like Christmas came early for me

I got Ozone.3, T-Racks 3 and SampleTank.2.5.XL

Installed 'em all and fully loaded up without fuss, running non-stop for hours on end throwing everything at 'em and it all works flawlessly! Couldn't be happier.

The T-Racks 3 is very easy to use! Has a ton of warmth and is very loud n clear.! Everything stands out in the mix! Better than I expected! Also superb for fattening n tightening up bass n drums.

The Ozone.3 is like the icing on the Cake (pun intended)

As for SampleTank.2.5.XL..? it's not too bad, a little tweaking on the sounds I found it very usable. Loaded up multitimbral use and it worked beautifully! All too simple and very delicious

I'm off to the bank to put some money in to get a kore pack and synthleth .. jeez.. I'm going to a bank to get (pay for) synths.. to me that's bizarre.. not like going to my local DV and seeing a load of expensive things like mixers etc that I can't afford, although I do miss say "one day".. perhaps I might get a free pen at the bank if I'm lucky, but it's not the same.

Tell me about it - the person who's buying me the BFD 2 software had to have the entire web page e-mailed to them to make sure they 'got it right'

I remember when I was a teenager (and in to my 20s) I would always ask for guitar strings as a cheapie stocking stuffer ~ I would always give them the exact brand, size, and style info ~ and they would ALWAYS get the wrong brand or size. Nuts! I stopped asking for music stuff; they can never get it right! : )

LOL
That reminded me of when I used to record onto cassette. I remember asking my parents as a stocking filler to get me couple decent cassettes and giving them the brand and the specific cassette number.
On christmas day my father with a huge grin on his face handed me over a parcel that contained not 2 but 20 cassettes he had bought for same price as my requested cassettes down at the market.
You can imagine the quality!!! I never asked again

My sister, bless her heart, bought me a RECORDABLE CD last Xmas!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't have the heart to tell her I had boxes of the things upstairs, and that no matter what she payed for it, she was undoubtedly ripped off.

godino, the pound shop used to sell em 5 for a £1.. lets just say.. they lived up to their brand name.. chizer... that not the correct spelling, but phonetically of a german word.

Colin, when cdr's were just out.. I remember the crazy prices.. £12-15 PER disk (normal ones)... the ones for pro-audio had a stupid price tag also. A friend at work, his wife used to work for BASF (their head office used to be near me) so we got em far cheaper via her as I think she worked in sales or something.

I got the synth anyway. the bloke in the bank remembered me from last time.. oh online shopping again huh? alas work pays me tomorrow , so I'll have to go back I guess.

I'm going to get the Super Sonic XL cos I've always wanted to have "sonic hearing."

Actually, I was going to get two of them, so I would have stereo sonic hearing, but now I think I'll get 5.1 of them to have surround sound sonic hearing.

Check out the video on the page!

https://www.silversonicxl.com/Default.aspx?mid=523241

What do you all think? Will this improve my mixes? Maybe this is a solution to the loudness wars.

I think I will go for the 7.1 version. Ya know home theater sound! I will need a hat type device to hold them all in place though. At lest I wont have to hear it through ear buds.

Just had to add that I picked up one of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186017

Honestly:
GET ONE (or something equiv. for your video card)

My studio is now nearly, almost completely silent.
It's shocking.

Cheap.

Get one.

Seriously.

But take your time installing it or you'll be out...

Well, in my case it's what I already got myself for Christmas - a custom-modded Leslie 145 to go with my VK7. Investigating the serial number on the case dates it to about 1959, which makes it just a couple years younger than me.

(Well - ok. Over the last weekend I was in my local (NON-Guitar Center) music store and they had a very clean ToneLab SE on the shelf. I've seen one or two around locally and always thought "I should come back and get that" only to have it gone when I returned. THIS one came home with Daddy...)

But really - that's it, I swear. Promise.

No....really.
