What Does This Message Mean An How Do I Remedy It?

Hi All

I occasionally get this message when I open an existing project.

"Silent Buses Detected. The following tracks and Buses are currently assigned to a silent Hardware Output. The items listed below will be silent in your project until their outputs are reassigned to an appropriate hardware output."

It then lists the tracks and/or buses in question.

The odd part of this is that when I open my project all the listed tracks and buses in question play just fine and are just as audible as all the rest of my tracks!

Has anyone else experienced this pop-up?
I know what it says, but what does it mean, especially when the project plays as expected after such a warning?

Harpo

You can either delete the bus or route an audio track to the bus so its not silent IIRC.

Do you have more than one sound card/interface that you use? I believe I've see this when I've switch back and forth between my L22 and my Babyface.

I get this occasionally and sometimes it has occurred when I have saved a project with muted tracks. It doesn't happen all the time though. A strange one.

Somewhere in the project you have a track or buss or send that goes nowhere. Hence the warning.

Most of my projects have a buss set to none, but you can silence the warning by setting WarnSilentBuses=0 in your cakewalk.ini file. (Preferences->File->Initialisation File)
