What Happens To My Songs If I Unistall and Reinstall Sonar?

Although I have Sonar X1 I have never used it because I am familiar with Sonar 8.5PE.  Maybe one day that will change but for now I have a little problem with Sonar 8.5PE
.
I have quite a few songs recorded with plenty of EFX plug ins on Tracks and Buses and am having problems with some of the EFX being greyed out and not being available. One of the main greyed out EFX is V-Vocal which I use quite a lot.
All the EFX worked well up until about 3 months or so ago. I don't remember what I did on my music computer to change things but  they changed anyhow. Could have been Avanquest registry fix?

Now here is the question:  if I uninstall Sonar 8.5PE and then Reinstall it will I lose all my old recorded songs?

And what about all the EFX Plug ins that I have in all the songs...Will their inputs on the tracks all be gone and have to be redone?

What will be messed up if I uninstall and reinstall?

Thanks for any help with this problem.  I am not a computer wiz. I am slow with computers.
Ken

you will not lose your songs and there shouldn't be anything messed up unless you did a custom install and installed some components into a different directory than the default, or if you moved any of the VSTs into a different directory manually.

before you do an uninstall/reinstall, I would suggest that you start sonar up in "re-initialize" mode.

hold the shift key down while double clicking on sonar.  that will force sonar to reinit.

Thanks Beagle. I will try the re initializing. No I did not do any custom installation. I am too ignorant for that..

Hold the phone, Don't you have back up's on a second hard drive???
Don't do anything until you make safe copies on a DATA drive.

You can drag and drop your project containment folder to the second drive. Hopefully you have all your CWP files and audio folders in a containment folder and not scattered all over C drive.

One you have safely stored your all your files you will have no problem opening them in a fresh version of Sonar. They will be exactly like they were.

Hi Cactus. As I said I am a computer dummy.
I do have an external drive but I only save the songs on that the same way that they are saved to my audio drive. I mean I use Save As and then save them as CWP. I did not set this computer up it was done many years ago by Sonica Audio. I have 3 drives on the computer. NO 1 for systems. NO 2 for Samples and NO 3 for audio and plus of course the external drive.
Being as dumb as I am where and how will I find the Audio folders?
Do you mean that an audio folder holds more than one song? Sorry for the stupid questions.
I have not tried the re- initialize yet.
Please do save me from doing something stupid....
    Thanks for the reply.

If you checked the little box when you do a "save as" that asks if you want to save the audio with the folder then it copies the project and all the audio to the new location.

I find Sonar's default folder system is very confusing for a lot of folks.

Just go to your back up drive and look and see if there are audio folders within the project folder.
It should be a Cakewlk Project ( or what ever you named it)  Folder and then within it the CWP icon and an audio folder.
