What I did on Saturday....
Cables, cables and more cables. Canare. TRS to XLR Female. TRS to XLR Male. Connected up the following to my patch bay in my rack. UA LA 610 True Systems P-Solo (x2) dbx 266XS dual compressor/limiter/gate This week I will receive an 8 port power unit with power switches on the front that I will mount next to my mixer. Believe it or not the dbx unit has no front panel power switch. A rack mountable unit without a front panel power switch. It actually doesnot even have a back panel power switch.

what do you use those p-solos for and do you like them?
Vox and I'll be trying them out on acoustic guitar this weekend. Yes, I like them. I got one about three weeks ago and the second one on the MF give2get promo. Too bad I did not wait on the first one. I used this for the first time at Grant's house on vox and really liked the unit.

IMO the P-solo has very few "peers" - but the Grace m101 is one of them. why did you choose the P-solo over the grace m101?

Funny you should mention that.... I have my eye on the Grace m101 also. I may pull the trigger this month.

why did you choose the P-solo over the grace m101?
Mainly because I had heard the results from the P-Solo and although I have read the Grace m101 is top notch I have not heard of any CW user who has one and raves about it.

the DFW Sonar Users group did a shoot out of several pres. we did tests with vocals and with acoustic guitar on several pres using the same mic and the same performer doing the same phrase of a song. I don't remember all of the pres we tested, but I do remember these: GAP Pre 73 Grace m501 (same as an m101 except it's in 500 series format) Focusrite ISA One UA LA-610 we did 3 or 4 settings on each one that has settings (the grace of course, does not have color settings, just pure gain). we didn't have a true systems to test, but I would like to have had it on the plate. I can give you access to the dropbox folder with our test and results if you want. I would like to have an m101 (or 2 of them). but I'd like to have an LA-610, too, tho. it was my favorite.

I do like my LA-610 for bass, but was not happy with it for acoustic guitar. I'm hoping the P-Solo(s) will be better for acoustic guitar (plan on the XY config at the 12th fret and maybe add the LA-610 with my AKG C-414 pointed at the body).
I also plan on using the dual P-Solo(s) for the Alembic (did I mention I have one?) since it has separate outs for the two pickups.
