What I'm liking....

... is that unlike some of the more recent releases we've seen is that the Cakewalk guys, particularly Andrew and Ryan actually engaging with some users questions and query's with much more openness than has been apparent for quite some time.

It was infuriating for a long time to see geniune concerns being met with a kind of smoke screen that would mostly suggest that black was actually white and that nothing was much wrong with anything Cakewalk, now there's a better Sonar up for grabs than has been availalble for a good while these guys seem much more comfortable with being more up front.

As an example, looking at some of Dave (Mod Bod's) concerns he's raised a thread about not perhaps going for the top-line producer version and the responses from the staff are actually much more sane and real than I can remember.

I understand that staff should be enthusiastic about their new baby and I don't generally mind that but it's nice to see a bit of realism, and dare I say humility in the way customers seem to be being treated this time around.  Being a ready critic over recent years, with this particular issue being one of the reasons, I've got to say it really is nice to see and quite refreshing.

Anyone else noticing this or is it just a trick of the light?

Well, now they have more colors Jonbouy, so black can now be green or grey or blue as well as white.

It does feel like a return to form for CW. Hope it stays that way.

I completely agree JB.

We will never know of course, but it's as if they were under orders from on high (either the upper echelons of management at Cakewalk, or direct from Roland) to maintain a stand-offish approach to the forums, and definitely not to engage on anything remotely contentious. With the recent announcements, it's like Gibson/Tascam have broken the Roland shackles and allowed them to do what they're good at again - talking to their customers and actively getting involved in discussions about their products.

Of course, most of the recent activity upstairs by Seth, Ryan, Andrew and Noel can be explained by the release of X3, but even then, as you correctly point out, that involvement has been much more candid, and dare I say, more passionate. Time will tell if this welcome involvement is completely X3-related, but I'd like to think that it will continue at least at pre-Roland levels.

The one downside to this, and I'm just guessing here, might be that we lose Brandon as an 'official' contributor, unless of course the new owners have the good sense to snatch him back from Roland if they still can.

Hi Jonbouy,

I agree with your assessment.

I see a very noticeable attempt at answering questions and giving insight into future patches.  More so than I have seen in years.

I noticed too.

I also got the same feeling as Paul that it seemed like the forum(s) I use to know.
I thought maybe it was just me being excited about the release.

I believe that the bakers pulled together and X3 is a result of one bad-ass team showing
how it's done.
I imagine that they are more than "talk of the town" and will be for some time.

I think Gibson made a smart move...and probably know it. Hope they show the guys in Boston
that they do. They deserve it.

I made a similar comment in a thread upstairs (about the civility).
