What Is Lounge Lizard Session and Where Did I Get It?

I know it's an electric piano model of the classic Rhodes and Whirly but what is the Session version?  I know I have it but I don't remember buying it directly so I must've got it free in something I already have.  Did this come along as part of Cakewalk by Bandlab?

Main reason I'm asking is that Plugin Boutique is having a special on Lounge Lizard but I think it's what I have already.  They're only asking USD$9.00 for it but why should I buy something I already have?

Thanks!

It's part of the AAS collection (Strum Session, Lounge Lizard Session, Ultra Analog) that came with Sonar Platinum.

From what I can tell, the Sonar edition is exactly the same as the session version on PluginBoutique - except maybe that it's locked down to Sonar/Cakewalk.

AAS were doing free upgrades to the regular session edition when Cakewalk Inc closed down, so there's no need to buy the $9 one.

There is a full version however, which you can upgrade to.

Would that be EP 4, by chance?

    Thanks!

Yes, it is.  I was just working on a project and wanted a really good EP and the CW freebie didn't have what I wanted so I upgraded to EP4. I think it's worth every penny and it had just the sounds I was looking for.  Obviously they weren't going to give away the best ones in the freebie.  The demo if you're not sure whether to buy.

Agree that EP-4 is awesome. I have both an actual Fender-Rhodes (MkI from the period when Fender ACTUALLY was involved...note that most of these are just Rhodes pianos) as well as a recent update of my Nord Electro to a 6HP, and the simulation definitely gets you into the Rhodes/Wurli zone effectively...I got it mostly for the Wurli, but I have A/B'ed and can get very similar sound to my Stage 73 (set close with slightly off-center pickups).

    - DSI OB-6 (love child of a Prophet and an Oberheim)
    - NORD Electro 3HP
    - Roland XP-10

My favorite Rhodes emulation for sheer verisimilitude is Dead Duck's DPiano-E. I used to own a Mark II Stage and it's the one that to my ears comes closest. It's free, too.

The price tag of $200.00 USD scares me away.  I've spent so much on plugins the past several months and there's a limit.  Guess I'll have to wait until it goes on sale.  Till then I'll just have to settle for what Sessions offers.

aas do have sales, and they do do a bundle, so you may luck out and get a cheaper price at some point... don't see it coming up 2nd-hand much though

If you have session there should be an upgrades button in your account on the AAS site which would probably bring it to $99 - they ran a 50% off sale for most of the summer but they will probably have another one during the holidays.

EP4 upgrade for Session Series users is currently $99 at the AAS site.  So wait for the next 50% sale and you could get a deal!

My go to Wurly is still Mr Tramp= free https://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=showproduct&b=40

It's 32 bit but seems to work 100% for me on 64 bit.

If you have your XLN account for AD2 open the download center and grab the free version of AD Keys
Then somewhere out there is the add pack of AD Keys which has a very good EP collection, free.
Look in the Deals sub form that's where I found the way to get it.

EP-4 is great.  I use it regularly alongside my other go to (Gospel Musician's "Neo-Soul Keys")...
I would definitely wait for the sales to come back around.
they were giving most of these away for real cheap.
