Hi,
As I mentioned before, some drummers play off the guitar a lot more than they do for a backdrop to the song. The other drummer that is really good at these things is Mani Neumeier, from Guru Guru, and specially in his early days ... it was all about the guitar, not anything else.
It's not really appreciated in most places, since we're so damn stuck up on this computerized mode of music, and have to be ... blah and blah all the time.
Another drummer really good at making these things work, was Richard Coughlan of Caravan, that colored details so beautifully in their music.
Mani is still alive, but I think he is done drumming at his advanced age, but the amount of music he leaves behind, is insane and outstanding. A truly original, and probably he was the definition of "krautrock" in their early days. And their show had some political stuff snuck through some comedy and fun stuff. No one uses the kazoo and the quack sound, better than he does!
Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!
