What Should I wear to my 25th High School reunion?

Z's are about as next as you can get.

Geeze! Class Reunion cost $15 for some taco food and buy your own drinks. Wear blue jeans and a shirt or a dress pants sorta and a shirt. High-School that is all it is, nothing great if even half to a quarter of the people show up at all.

I think going as Madonna would be a big hit.

Casual but nice. People will be dressed from one end of the scale to the other. I always opt for nice jeans and a button down shirt if it is a dinner and dance. If there is some sort of theme then obviously it changes. I don't wear a tie to church, I'm certainly not going to wear one to a reunion... only to a funeral will I wear a tie. Personally, I prefer to be slightly under dressed than over dressed.

25 isn't too long but you'll probably wonder, "who are all these old people"?

Have you kept in touch with those losers old friends since high school?  Probably not.  

Heck I wasn't even invited to my HS reunions. Seems there were 2 groups of kids... The in crowd and everyone else. I was in the "everyone else" group... tucked neatly into a sub group I shall call "the stoners" who as a group were not even part of the "everyone else" group. We smoked that killer weed and did other mind expanding things..... So we kinda hung together during and after school and didn't hang out with the other groups..... including but not limited to, the motor heads, juice heads, preps, jocks, people of differing ethnic decent, and all the other assorted freaks and losers in that school. Of course, they thought the same things about us.... So I guess we are even.

I was invited to one of the reunions put together by a few of the "everyone else" crowd people who got tired of not being invited to the "official" class of 72 reunions.

So I went... drove the miles to the gun free zone known as New Jersey, to hang out with people I had not seen in over 33 years and who had not tried to contact me in all that time..... to spend one or two hours reminiscing about things that happened in 1972. About half of the people invited showed at this alternative reunion.... none of the "in crowd" showed up. 

For the better part of 3 to 4 hours, I was pretty bored and frankly was wondering why I had even decided to attend. The room was filled with people trying to impress me with stories of their unsuccessful lives.... I mean really? You never left Pine Hill NJ?  Really, you still live here?  On your 3 rd marriage and have kids by them all? So impressive.... Looks like you lost almost all your hair and gained about 75 pounds..... This is your 4th wife? (OMG!!!! where did you find her.... no on second though... don't answer that) 

Of course.... you could go just to see how screwed up that they are and laugh at them..... that's what I did..... I was shaking my head in disbelief at many of them..... thinking...Dude... you look really bad..... life musta been hard..... looks like you been rode hard and put up wet.....  the guys looked even worse in most cases. 

ON dressing.... bluejeans and my normal T with flannel shirt.... worked for me. I didn't go there to impress or brag. Not that anyone was asking how my life had been or what I did for the past 30+ years....

So.... go if you want.... have fun if you can..... as for me, nope..... I won't be doing that ever again. It's a waste of time.  My wife declined to go, knowing it was NJ was enough of a reason for her..... I should have stayed home too. 

But Mooch.... don't let my commentary deter you from something that you may enjoy. I can say I enjoyed seeing only one person at the reunion. He was a buddy who used to have a girl friend 4 doors up the street from my house. It was good to see him and catch up a bit. He's married and living on the northern left coast.

You're right Herb. I was class of '70. Most of the people are pretty much the same, some have changed, all are older. Most of the changes are for the better, some just stayed losers or still try to be teenagers, it is sad. Some have died since the 25th... all in all, I am glad to have gone to a couple but there is one guy who has parties that are pretty much open to anyone but most of the people are from '68-'73. He either gets a good party band or has something setup for all the "local legends" to jam. Those are great parties. If we have a band it is always The Bushmen. They are still playing and still good.

I'd say GO... if you don't have fun, leave but don't over think it and really... wear jeans. Find someone who looks like you'd be comfortable being around and go sit with them. It don't matter if you were good friends or not, it only matters that you are comfortable and have fun.

Wear what you most feel comfortable in, be who you are today not what you thought you were back then.

Relax and enjoy you are not the same person as you were then.
