"What You Hear Live" in Bounce to Tracks

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone help me understand how to get a bounced track from VSL? I have three cello parts that come through VSL (as a soft synth) and output to SONAR. I need to get these parts to actual audio tracks - not just the MIDI output. I've tried pretty much everything "Live Input", "What You Hear Live". - nothing. When I just play the track, it works just fine. As soon as I use any kind of record mode and play the track through (including "What You Hear Live") I get dead silence. I even changed the input Source for the bounce from the VLS to an audio output of the SONAR - figuring that since I can see it and I can hear it, it would have to record - right? No such luck. I'm baffled.
Anyone?

Thanks

have you tried just making a bounce mix down then bringing that back in as a wave file?
(kinda like you would normaly mixdown your whole song.)

I tried that but it didn't work - I think it's something within VSL. Anyhow, I managed to separate the tracks with muting, freeze the synth, and then I was able to mix to a track one at a time. Thanks for you input though - I appreciate it.

If you select a VSL track and click "Freeze" it should render it to a wave file. You can try that as a test and if it works then it shows you are simply using the wrong method -  it sounds like you are trying to record the VSL by "routing" it thru ins and outs which shouldn't be necessary. If you select the VSL track and choose "Bounce to tracks" does it work? Make sure the entire track is selected.

You shouldn't have to "record" anything. Use Bounce to tracks command or the Export to audio command. Once you figure that out you'll see how flexible the internal routing can be.
