What about TH3?
It's now possible to upgrade from TH2 to TH3, but will there be a discount, automatic upgrade or other enticement, for Sonar users who already own TH2?

Upgrade from TH2 Full is $79 which for this is a steal. Get it, it is awesome and absolutely slays all before it with the exception of perhaps the BIAS stuf, BIAS Amp Pro and BIAS FX Pro, testing ongoing, but it is freking AWSOME

There's no mention of the Cakewalk/Sonar included TH version in the Overloud upgrades options. It appears we have to upgrade to the full version for $99 via the CW store and then upgrade that at Overloud for $79 to get to TH3. The video is a quick info-mercial, but the audio demo mp3's sound really good. Michael

I'm using Bias and Bias FX. Love them both. I also use GTR3 and GR5. TH2 was always a disappointment for me, but TH3 looks much better.

Ah, I was under the impression we had TH2, but you are right. We have a lesser version built into Sonar. Rats.

GTR3 is one of the ones I keep, not that it can compete with BIAS or TH2/3 in my opinion, but because when I use it and have a certain sound going on, and it inspires a song, no matter what other amp sim I try I can't replace it for that song. Never liked Guitar Rig, it just sits there unused. If you had TH2 that was included in Sonar, and not the FULL version, that could be a reason for your disappointment, and perhaps the GUI. The GUI never bothered me, and I spent a lot of time getting to know TH2 and how to get what I want out of it, and for me up until BIAS Amp Pro and BIAS FX Pro, TH2 was my favorite by far. I pretty much own most major and not so major amp sims out there, and for me BIAS and TH2/3 are far above them all (yes including S-Gear2 and Amplitube 3/4) I recently traded all my Amplitube gear, Amp3 and Amp 4 and all things available in the custom shop for some Toontrack gear.

After getting TH2 with a Sonar upgrade a few years ago, I liked it, and bought the full version. As often happens, I then proceeded to not use it much (not that I didn't like it, I did). A couple of weeks ago I heard about the TH3 upgrade for $79, and went for it. I'm glad I did. I'm actually using this! In fact I've switched to using it for my live rig, using my laptop and FF800 housed in a small Gator flight case. I'm using my Keith McMillen 12-step to control TH3, along with a Roland EV-5 expression pedal, and the whole setup is blowing me away for its simplicity, and great sound. I've got the 12-step set up to control bank up/down, presets up/down, and to turn on/off 6 effect categories globally. The three remaining 12-step buttons control tuner on/off, tap tempo and lead boost. For lead boost I've simply added an EQ pedal to each preset, after the amp, with "on" being my rhythm setting, and "off" acting as the actual boost. I'll be running this in stereo to the PA, with another fireface 800 output dedicated to a small amp I'll use in case I have trouble hearing my guitar on stage. I'll be plugging into its fx loop pwr amp return, not the front of the amp. Pretty cool stuff.

TH2 and Amplitube 3 and 4, also Audiffied's GK Amplification Pro are the only amp sims I use. Occasionly, I do hook a POD HD500 up via usb but TH2 and Amp 4 are the workdogs mainly. That is TH2 full version mostly for the Brunetti amps. I love those amps and you can only get them in the full version.

That's a good news. I wonder what will happen to CA-Amps. I'm exited about TH3 in Sonar just wish to keep CA-Amps intact as they are incredibly easy to use and sound superior.

Hi Sidroe Is TH3 a vast improvement over TH2? If I am getting the performance and sound I want from this type of software package, I have sort of stopped upgrading - not just because of cost but the time! For instance on old version of Amplitude - does what I want it to do so why bother upgrading! Anyway I tend to use Scuffam most of the time when I need to - am using them less and less and have reverted most of the time to recording through proper amps. Nigel

Frucking shaweet! I posted a while back about this (pretty much the exact same question Pencilartist posted). I own the full version of TH2 but definitely want to check out the new TH3 design so if I get a Sonar version to screw around with... well that's better than some horribly crippled demo version. Now the question is... will they include it before my Sonar subscription expires. *Jeopardy music* lol
