What am I looking at in the track mode and piano view?

I am doing a composition and put in the drum midi parts (groove monkey big easy) Funk verses and I want to copy the part to track 2 for the bass and erase the double notes when I come across them.  The mouse  was selecting each section of the drum track to copy just fine to the 2nd track  but sometimes it changes to a pink and red line and I no longer can copy it.  It seems like it has become an envelope editor.  How do I get the track back to be able to select it?

It seems like it is a velocity envelope also could it be regional effects.  I can't get it back to the part where I can select a part.  Sorry my description is so sketchy

Without a screen capture, I can only make a guess.

Have you checked the Edit Filter drop down on the track?  It should be set to Clips.

    Hope this helps,

    Alt + Printscreen

Save it to your desktop, then upload to an image sharing site

Get the link code & post it on this forum using the Insert / Edit Image button

    Use the windows snipping tool.
Alt + Printscreen has never worked for me.

I use the snippet tool but it has limitations
Never tried ALT+Printscreen but do use Printscreen then paste into Paint, edit and upload to imgur

This is what I've always done - never needed a third-party program to get screen shots.

I used to Alt/PrtSc and paste into MS Paint. I still do I if want to add text or crop the picture.
If you have Drop Box or One Drive both those will automatically save Alt/PrtSc to a Picture folder.
Supper handy for saving shots of web pages for on line shopping.
Then Imgur seems to  be the best sharing site right now.
I remembers my One drive folder too.
I can have a screen shot posted in less than a minute.

Never noticed that before (the ALT+Print Screen)
I just tried it by using CNTL+V to paste it in to MS Paint. Worked great. Thanks.

I find the Snip tool better because I can rubber-band/Lasso a rectangle around what ever I want to highlight.
You can also easily right click on the saved snip and choose "Open with-Paint".

Funny, I have used the print screen function but only with movable objects that cant be snipped like menus, exc.

    1- Open the snip tool
2- Click the menu to keep it open
    3- Press CNTRL+ Print Screen

You need to pay attention, everyone has said, you need to first put the picture on a web site so you can add the URL. All forums work this way.

Open a Imgur account, it's free. Photobucket is now trashed and removed all my old pictures from the forum. https://imgur.com/

If you use W10 you will allready have One Drive.
You need to log on with your mirco soft account to use it as a cloud service.
I used to use Drop Box, but One Drive is nicley intigrated to Windows 8.1 and 10. A little finicky on 7, doesn't seems to sync properly.
I'm saving all my CWP files ( no audio) to One Drive.
I have it set to also save locally so those projects are on each computer as well as the cloud.
I can work between any of my computers this way.
Once I've got all the midi parts 100% I export to use as a backing track for live performance.  I then save it locally to a new folder ( not one drive) and start recording the audio.

When embedding images make sure the url contains an image extension and use the image icon in the message editor or put [img] [/img] tags around the url. The link in your post links to the page hosting the image and not the image itself. Here is what the image looks like when embedded in a post:

WRT the problem: the edit filters on both tracks are set to Clip Velocity see msg #3 above for the correct setting

Everyone thank you That did work.  I changed to notes on both parts and everything works as it should.  Now comes the hard part I have to count the parts and lyrics out.

    Thank you very much.

If you have an imgur account, click in the image in the account, it should open in a screen like the one below, click the copy option next to the BBCode and paste that string into your post

the string is a link to the image file (a url with an image extension, for example .png) bounded by [img] and[/img] tags.
