What guitar library/soft sampler to use?

Anyone using the Hans Zimmer Guitar library, and if so , what soft sampler plug-in are you using to play the library inside Sonar? I have read on this forum that Kontakt 2 causes Sonar to crash. I have Sonar 4.

If there is another good library of acoustic/electric guitar samples bundled in another library, I would like to know about that as well. I am not interested in loop libraries - like Virtual Guitarist by Steinberg. Thanks for any advice.

    Hi there,
While I haven't used that particular library with K2, I do own K2 and use it pretty regularly without a problem. It does have some bugs (CPU spikes etc), but the only "crash" scenario I know of occurs if you use K2 in a Sonar project and then move the samples that the instance of K2 is using....and hopefully that'll be fixed in the update due this month. Personally I like K2 in general and it comes with some fairly good guitar patches in it's library. Assuming that there are no bugs specific to the Hans Zimmer Guitar library, I'd suggest looking into K2. It really is pretty good, and hopefully will be even better this month.

    Good luck

East West Quantum Leap RA has a good Washburn acoustic guitar. The set will run you $1000. There are tons of other sounds in RA; mainly ethnic stuff.

Anyone else using the Hans Zimmer libraries? I'm considering buying them very soon, and I'd appreciate any more opinions. Anyone have a preference of 1 or 2 or could pick out any huge differences between the two?

I was plundering thru the guitar center one day and found a copy of plugsound fretted instruments in the blow out bin for $9 and snapped it up, it has some great guitar samples in the library

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

There is a differnce between 1 and 2.. different guitars.. I use vol one.. Love it. If you're a good keyboard player, and I'm not, you can get alot of great sounds..

Cool, so when you say "different guitars," could you tell me specifically the overall difference in the guitars on the two collections? Is #2 more world-instrument type stuff and #1 more basic? Also, is there a sound-quality difference between the two, like a noticeable improvement in recording quality from 1 to 2? Thanks in advance. I really appreciate this. :)

There's a Group Buy on ManyTone Guitar -- I haven't demoed it, but it does seem to get great reviews at KVR.

For Vol. 1- There are (patches , chords, and loops), for 12 string guild, Martin 6, Takamine 6 st acoust, Yamaha nylon, Paul Reed Smith Dragon guitar, Cherry Les Paul Deluxe, Vintage Charvel Strat, 1992 American Stratocaster, Custom Strat, Telecaster. All very good. Go to Ilio.com and check out vol 2. Vol. 2 has a Baritone guitar, and some odd stringed thingys.. but you can go to the site.

There really shouldn't be any sound quality difference.. The sound is great. I use the presets, but some people like loops which are good. and the chords (press one key get a chord) are good too.

Thanks again, Brad. I ordered Vol. 1 earlier today. I had gone and listened to the demos on the website, but it's really difficult to tell if that stuff is really representative of the product sometimes, ya know? They harp on certain features and neglect to mention others, so I thought I'd doublecheck here. However, my Sweetwater rep explained the two volumes in more depth than the site and provided some insight, so that definitely helped in my ultimate decision. Anyhow...excited to try out all the new stuff I ordered.

For electric guitar - ManyTone Guitar is great. I am a guitar player and there's times when its quicker to throw something together with ManyTone than pull out my axe.
All of ManyTone's stuff is meticulously well crafted.
