What is nominal?


bapu used a big word.

drewfx1 and quantumeffect are restricted from answering until a few of us make fools of ourselves.

    Yeah, like me TV will accept 230v (nominal) but it doesn't mind anything between 220 - 240 in actuality.

    Do you mean that in a metaphysical sense (as in nominalism) or how the term applies to a measurement (i.e., nominal vs. ordinal)?

    btw, I am still struggling with the British Association of Paediatric Urologists … which just seems wrong but in any event ...

    bapu is a label and in terms of a nominal scale, if they have the same label then there is an equivalence and there is no way to measure differences between bapus.
