What is "D-Pro"?

I am trying to use some of the presets in "D-Pro", which I'm thinking is somehow loosely related to Dimension Pro but yet not the same thing.

Anyway, it's not working; clicking or double clicking on a preset doesn't always load it.  I guess I need to locate the documentation on this thing to see what I'm doing wrong.

Any info on this would be appreciated, thanks!

This first time you launch it, it takes about 30 seconds for it to build the index of sounds. Once the index appears, you should be good to go.

Yeah, the interface is up, but it is not working the way I would guess.

For example, I can't get the "Solo Cello" to load.  The trumpet I previously loaded still plays.  And when I click on "Pizz" (to the right of Solo Cello), it highlights all of the strings.  Odd behavior.

    Yeah that is strange.

I would check the plug in manager to make sure you are not trying to load either version 1.2 or a 32 bit version in the 64 bit world.

The plugin manager just says it's Cakewalk Sound Center, and no version is given.

I'm using the 32 bit version of Sonar X1 under Windows 7 64 bt.

Cakewalk sound center is a new "simple" synth taking some of the preset sounds from other assorted Cakewalk synths, from the look of it.  I've only messed with it once, and it seemed to load fine.  Insert the synth and then load a patch in from the browser.  Play.  There doesn't seem much else to do to it.  It did take a little time to load in a patch on my computer.

Thanks, AT.  Now for a test could you load the cello sound and play it?  Just a simple cello sound, not the pizzicato or any other settings.

That is just one of several that I cannot get to work.

I am having no problem with it here but I am not using the Sound Center, just inserted directly to tracks with corresponding midi track.

Inserted "what" into the track?  I was just going to log off for the night but now you have me curious!

Its a plugin that accesses the Rapture and Dim pro multisamples pretty much like a browser that lets you setup and play the sounds. there's no edit functions that I'm aware of.

Its another Cakewalk consumer level plugin that's progressed to freebie status in SONAR producer.

Its another word for EOL plugin. (End of Life Plugin)

    Re:What is "D-Pro"? 2011/01/02 10:48:02 (permalink)
    I see, thanks.

I was thinking that it might be useful for scratch tracks.  Rather than fussing around with complex sound libraries requiring lots of time to work out the articulations, it might be fast to drop into a track just to get the general feel in the context of a project.

But it seems that a lot of presets are missing.  There just seem to be no "program" definitions for many instruments.
For example, iIf you look at the brass category and any of the subtypes, there's no solo trombone, trumpet, french horn, tuba or "other brass".  The only actual preset under brass, appears to be "Trumpets" (plural).  No solo brass instrument of any kind.
Likewise, under strings, the only "solo" string instrument is "Pizzi (loose)", which activates all of the solo subtypes.  Not very useful, and that's not a "solo" instrument if you have the whole orchestra playing a pizzicato.

There are other problems with it, but at this point I'm just trying to figure out if this "freebie" is actually useless or if it's merely improperly installed on my system.
