What is that thing that looks like Ableton Live in Sonar and How do you use it?

Title says it all.  I have dragged clips in a few times but the concept befuddles me.

Then again, I started recording on hardened wax in the 1800s.

    No not beatscape.

It has grids and cells and arrows and stuff in it.

    Looks sort of like this:

You're joking?? I went through the whole CW shop without finding a GUI like that. C'moon...there's vocoder, frequency shifting and whatever together.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

That's an Ableton screenshot, right? And I do believe you're referring to the matrix view. I tried using it awhile back but it didn't work for my needs because it wouldn't output midi data to an external synth. (Maybe they fixed this?) It works w/ wav's fine.

SONAR (at this time) is unable to output MIDI (for plugs capable of doing so).

Use LoopBe1 to setup virtual MIDI ports.

I used it with drumagog and it works like a charm (well except drumagog's output was delated, but a shift of the MIDI solved the problem).
