What is the Song Forum Protocol, Please?
Hi All, I'd like to get a mix critiqued, but don't want to presume that I can simply jump in and post. So, I'd like to find out what the protocol is. Do people tend to listen and critique for a while before posting their own songs? Or does it matter? -Ron T.

The "matter" is regarded differently by various individuals. Post something and you'll quickly find out that each listener has a unique personality and their response will reflect that. I look forward to hearing some of your music. best regards, mike

Thanks for the quick response, Mike, and for the information. I'll just have a quick look around to see where I can put the song and, to quote Arnie's immortal words: I'll be back.

this is quite nice of you, to think ahead and stuff...I just crashed the party and posted one my songs (waaay back in the spring of 2013 ) without further notice! just like Mike said, personalities and tastes differ here, but I like it that way, and the audience is very curious and willing to listen. you'll love it here!

Thanks, Tom (or are you actually a drummer and that's not your name? ) I'm looking forward to it.

Post your stuff, and welcome! It's a sort of 'get what you give' place, you'll probably get more response if you take the time to listen and comment on others music.

Thanks, James. I've only listened to one song so far, mainly because it's hard to know where to start. There's so much!

Wait, no judgment, but as a question; you joined in 2010 and haven't visited the song forum? It's interesting to me. I just went ahead and threw up what I thought was my first good song (it was terrible) but super-thanks to the songs forum I've grown SO much, especially last year. Looking forward to listening!

I didn't spend much time on the Cakewalk forums back in 2010 and, in my defense, I didn't even think to look for a song forum. (insert blushing emoticon here) And besides that, I bought Sonar back then and promptly got sidetracked with the result that I've spent the last three years working as an actor. It's only been since September that I've had time to get back to all this. Yeah, I know. Excuses are like esophagi in the nether regions. Everybody got one.

I have already commented on one of your songs and it was pleasing to my ears. Welcome to the Song Forum and post lots of your music, but like James said it's about commenting on others music as well. There are many different styles and tastes in here. Lots of original music and others that use loops and samples and mix in bits of their own styles and skills. No matter what we all do, we try to get the end result, a finished piece of music or a song. Peace and Blessings, John
