What is the best way to find the key of vocal stems?

Namaste everyone,

My first post in this forum. Recently bought Sonar X1, hence I will start with some questions.

I am trying to create a remix. Unfortunately, it's hard to figure out the key of the vocal stems. I tried a few methods but still not sure. Is there an easier way to find out the key? I was expecting v-vocal would display that info easily. It does display the white lines but not very user friendly. I know melodyne does a pretty nice job in letting you know the key of a wav file. Also, v-vocal does not show the chopped up blobs like the variaudio in cubase or like newtone in Fl Studio, it would have been really nice if it does.

Thanks in advance.

I used some tools like Jammer to go the other way kind of, entering notes of melody and software suggest different chord progressions for that.

And entering a number for chords it makes an arrangement for you etc.

But back and forth doing this in software you most often cannot say which key - it may be a number of keys that certain vocal harmonies could fit into.

And certain notes together might be a different chord depending on the key etc.

And not to mention that tunes might very well shift keys a number of times.

Or is your question only to find each note?

it's hard to figure out the key of the vocal stems

How are you with Music Theory?
If you listen to the melody parts... then figure out what the vocal harmoney parts are doing (often 3rd above) you should be able to figure out the key.
If you have access to the original full track, that'll make it even easier.
