What is the correct sequence to install X1

What is the correct sequence to install X1b?
I have the original X1 box with disk...unopened.
Should I use the disk to install X1a then download X1b...or download X1a from the Cake site?

    1 - Install all of the disks from the DVD box
    2 - Download & install X1a
    3 - Download & install X1b
