What is your favorite sounding electric piano package?
I'm interested in learning what your favorite sounding electric piano package is? I'm not looking for pretty good for cheap, but rather hoping to learn which ones you think were really good and worth every penny. (even if they turn out to be cheap) :-) Thanks!

I've tried many but am happiest with the Scarbee series in NI Komplete!

While I luv's me some Lounge Lizard...and use it more often than not. And while Scarbee is nice. The thing that sounds closest to my Rhodes Suitcase or Stage is NeoSoul Keys.

I have the ones mentioned above, and each has its place, but my goto is still the original Scarbee RSP73.

Scarbee is cool, Lounge Lizard is cool, the old Elektrik is cool, but the ones I turn to most often are the "tubed" Wurlitzer and Rhodes libraries from Sampletekk. The think I like most about Sampletekk is the sound, it just has attitude... it won't fit every song, but when it works it is just cool. The think I like about Lounge Lizard is the flexibility - I can create almost any electric piano like sound I want. Definitely check out the Sampletekk libraries!!!!

I just went and read about Lounge Lizard EP4 and I can't quite figure out if it is AAX x64 compatible. Yes? No?

Soniccouture's Broken Wurli for a Wurlitzer.
For an EP I have been fascinated by Neo Soul Keys.

In my opinion, GSi Mr Ray is the closest you'll get to a straight Rhodes sound. Add some OverLoud VKFX and you're in Rhodes heaven!

How does Pianoteq package work? Do you need to buy Pianoteq as a "player" and then also add the Electric Piano instrument?

I have not tried all the options but I like Scarbee Vintage Keys, particularly the Wurlie and Rhodes. There is also Pianet and Clavinet but I think that the Sampletekk ST Clavi is a cut above the Scarbee one. What ever you use Overloud's VKFX effects suite makes a big difference. I seldom have an EP track without having it in FX bin. For less common EPs I like Hollow Sun's CP70 and RMI Electrapiano. Unlike IK, Steve Howell never managed to sample the RMI at multiple velocities, I wonder why that was .

Exactly. Doesn't matter which version of Pianoteq you start with AFAIK. Version 5 just came out which is meant to be even better than 4.5. Being able to add the Bluthner model is a nice bonus! It's very "demo-able" - full download is under 30MB (not a typo) if memory serves, and just a few keys are disabled.

Don't forget the GSI Mr. Ray 73. I used the crap out of that thing for the longest time. It seems to have a bigger sound than 22. You do have to use another FX plug for the chorusing/panning FX. Right now, out of convenience, I'm using Lounge Lizard.
Sonar Platinum, Sonar X3e, Sonar X2a , Sonar X1 Expanded and 8.5.3 (32 and 64 bit), Windows 10 on a Toshiba P75-A7200 Laptop with i7 @ 2.4 quad and 8 gigs of RAM and secondary WD 1 Tb drive, Windows 10 desktop, Asus i5 @ 3.2 quad, 12 gigs RAM, 1 Tb drive, 1 500 gig drive, MOTU 24io, 2 Roland Studio Captures, Saffire 6 USB for laptop, Soundtracs Topaz Project 8 mixer, Alesis Monitor 2s, Event BAS 20/20s, Roland Micro-Monitor BA-8s, and 45 years worth of collecting FX, Mics, Amps, Guitars, and Keyboards!

Personally I've always been partial to Mr Ray. Yes, it's free, or donationware or whatever, but it's also the warmest, purest electric piano sound in my arsenal. I like Lounge Lizard for it's versatility. It's great at making messed-up sounds (in a good way) though for a straight Rhodes type sound I find it a little "plinky". I have Neo Soul keys on my ipad which is awesome. Scoff if you like, but it too is warm and inviting and is undoubtebly the same samples as the plug-in version.

That's the essential difference between Lounge Lizard and NeoSoul Keys...one is modeled and the other is sampled. Like I said, I use LL for most everything due to it's versatility and ease of programming. But to get the "true" sound of my actual suitcase and stage Rhodes...it's Neo Soul.

Oh, I don't doubt it. If i had Neo Soul as a plug it would definately be my "go to" electric piano sound. And to be clear, LL is still great and can be inspiring under the right conditions (love the wah-style effects), but for a straight rhodes sound, I still just usually use Mr Ray.

I use Lounge Lizard 4 (and have used all the other incarnations of Lounge Lizard). I've got several others: Scarbee, Purgatory Creek, Reason's ElectroMechanical 2, and Sonic Couture's EP73 Deconstructed. While all have their strong suits, the smoothness, articulation, and low register bark of Lounge Lizard have me coming back to it again and again. I do have one comment, however: I only use Rhodes and non-imitative settings. I've never much cared for the Wurli (I mean by this the original electro-acoustic instrument and all its imitations), though I keep hoping that I'll find a situation that is just right for it.
“Beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy” is attributed to Benjamin Franklin perhaps in error, but the thought remains a worthy sentiment nonetheless.

Mr. Ray73 and 22 being 32 bit is why I jumped to XLN AKS and Lounge Lizard. I wanted to get everything possible over to 64 bit. Addictive Keys is a CPU hog with all the bells and whistles turned on so I'm learning to like LL. I still love the GSI stuff. I agree the Lounge Lizard that comes with X3 is pretty good. My main gripe is the velocity layers are kind of finicky but it works well enough.

Hi Sid, I assumed that Lounge Lizard, being modeled rather than sampled, didn't have velocity layer issues. Isn't that supposed to be one of its virtues? "Alive beneath your fingers There is something quite immersive when a connection develops between the player and the instrument. Whether it's the perfectly smooth velocity progression or the interactive reaction to your performance, Lounge Lizard makes that connection happen."

I mis-spoke! You are correct. I meant to say the response from soft sounding to aggressive playing is not as smooth as what I would like. It seems to be either soft, mellow, up to a certain point and then when it switches it is very aggressive. There is little smoothness switching between the two. Of course, I'm still experimenting around with it. It is still very useable.
