What is your workflow?

I'm interested in how you write and engineer your Sonar projects.  Do you write the music and develop multiple tracks, then once a piece is finished with instrumentation then add effects (such as EQ, compression, bus to reverb, etc.), then mix the various levels?  Or do you do this simultaneously?
 
If it matters, I produce electronic music.  To clarify my question, here's my typical workflow:
  1. The kick drum in my music is all important, so I select a sample, then EQ and compress to get it thumping
  2. I then load the other drum samples into Battery 4 and add EQ, compression, reverb, and balance the levels for the drum kit
  3. Next I create a bass synth sound, maybe write a main riff, then EQ and compress, then get at a level to balance with the drums
  4. Create drum sequences that complement the bass line and adjust levels
  5. I next add various synths and write the music using this cycle:
    1. Create a melody
    2. Pick a synth and sound that fits
    3. EQ, compress, add effects
    4. Adjust sound level (mix) to balance with other tracks
What is your typical workflow?  I am so fascinated by the potential processes others use.

    Im guessing different types of music has something to do with workflow (Rock, EDM, POP, Exc).
    My method is always different but writing songs I typically start with a kick like you but instead I have a 4 bar loop playing kick, snare, sometimes hi hat. just to glue everything together and keep it in time.
     
    once scratch tracks are established, I then begin the building process.
    Funny, I have worked the same way for almost 30 years now. Back on Tape, I did the same thing.
    Established a metronome track/4 bar loop and took it from there.
