What keyboard is this?

Just trying to figure out what brand/model keyboard controller is shown in the following photo of someone's studio setup. (the light reflection is sort of obscuring the name in the upper left corner...)  I like the look of the thing - black surrounded by wood panels, ample room for a qwerty keyboard and mouse - I'm just hoping it's a reputable piece of gear.  Feel free to give an opinion if you happen to have experience with this particular board.  Or just identify it, that's fine.  Thanks.

not 100% positive, but maybe it's an Open Labs?

not exactly that model, but maybe an older model.  If you're not familiar with OL they basically have a computer built into them and you can load softsynths into them.  (but they're not cheap!)

That looks suspiciously like a CME-UF8 to me.

FFB, that is what I was thinking.  I don't think it is an old Open Labs.  But it is hard to tell from the photo.  However, the CME's had a large flat surface, as I remember.  Of course, if you read SOS the reviewer was less than happy with the controller aspects of the board.  Don't know if the chi-coms worked on the software aspect of the board since then.  It didn't seem to take off.

Some of the Yamaha synths have a large top - the OP may want to look at them.  They tend to be expensive, tho.

I had the CME UF-8 and liked it but it did get less than rave reviews on SOS. FWIW CME has come out with another controller with more capability and motorized faders.

Thanks everybody - nice detective work there.

Funny thing is, I really didn't see much negative at all in that SOS review.  I thought it was quite glowing throughout - including the controller section - with the guy concluding that he had finally found "the right controller" for him, after having tried many other brands...  Are you guys maybe referring to a majority of other SOS reviews?

And Beagle, it's amazing - even though your guess was wrong, just yesterday I was trying to recall the name of the company (besides Korg) to whose platform Stephen Kay expanded his KARMA technology a couple years ago.  And it was of course Open Labs and their Gen 5 Production Stations.  Wow.  So thanks for that!
