What kind of VSTis do you guys use?
I mainly use Nexus 2.2 / NI Massive / Z3TA+ / Trilian (For drums, I get samples from here and there and apply it to battery3) What kind of VSTis do you guys use or suggest? Let's share some nice ones :)

Native Instrument Komplete... Kontakt 5 + all kinds of Libraries and own samples, Massive, Reaktor, FM8, Absynth, battery 3 + own made kits, Guitar Rig all FXs Spectrasonics all softwares Nomad Factory all plugins. Sometimes I use Cakewalk synths that are great too. That's what I basically use most.

Mainly - Kontakt, with several third party libraries. (Orange Tree, Hollow Sun, Idiginus and Sampletekk get the most use.) IN the NI stuff the Scarbee basses & keys and Vintage Organs.
- GForce Minimonsta and MTron Pro
- Superior Drummer with a few EZX and SDX expansions.
- Z3ta 2 and Pentagon.
Also Rans - Steven Slate Drums
- Sampletank
- Music Lab RealStrat
- Dimension Pro
- NI B4 II
Occasionally - Independence Pro
- BFD Eco
- Kit Core
Effects. The effects in the Sonar Producer Bundle Amplitube 3 and Guitar Rig 4 Essentials IK T-Racks Blue Cat free pack I have just crossgraded to Komplete 8 so I expect to see Guitar Rig 5, Reaktor, FM8 and Massive getting some use.

From memory, which means I will have to update this later, Stuff I have been using for some time:- Absynth 5 (my old workhorse synth) Battery 3 Pentagon Triangle SFZ (for piano - I purchased an additional sound set) There should me more stuff on the above list but my memory fails me as it must be five years or more since I was actively "composing." Stuff I have recently added (and not yet used in anger):- Guitar Rig 5 Rapture (despite current issues) Z3ta 2 Session Drummer BFD Eco Dimension Pro Cakewalk Sound Center Strum Acoustic (A|A|S) Strum Electric (A|A|S) Chromaphone (A|A|S) Ultra Analog (A|A|S) Tassman 4 (A|A|S) Lounge Lizard (A|A|S) String Studio (A|A|S) The jury is still out on some of the items on the second list. I'm still having issues with Rapture, fir instance, when I try do drive it with Step Sequencer or a MIDI sequence. I play guitar, sort of, hence trying GR5. I took a fancy to the A|A|S (Applied-Acoustic Systems) stuff. I started off with Strum Session, which I thought was a gimmicky guitar simulator, but I was quite impressed with some of the sounds it created. There are sampled guitar sounds in Dim Pro, but the "physical modelled" sounds created by Strum Session were much more "natural" in my opinion. So I then upgrade to Strum Acoustic, and that came as a bundle with Strum Electric. And I was quite impressed, again, but the almost realistic sounds, including the strumming sounds too (upstroke, downstroke, palm mute up, palm mute down, muted and arpeggio). I even experimented with putting GR5 in the effects bin, and I was even further impressed. So expect some real crappy MIDI guitar stuff from me soon... Anyway, while on the A|A|S website, I was also impressed with the Chromophone (percussion synth) video demo, so at that point, I decided to consider getting the Modelling Collection. Only just scratching the surface of this stuff, but even Lounge Lizard (the electric piano modeller) sounded better than I thought, when it came to some of the Rhodes and different organ sounds. And I've not finished there. I intend to upgrade to full BFD at some point, and there are a couple more synthetic drum VSTs I fancy getting too. As for effects... too many to mention, now that I have also recently added all of the latest ProChannel modules (not strictly VSTs I suppose) The shameful thing about VSTs, for me, is that my hardware is now gathering dust in a corner (Roland JP-8000, Oberheim OB12, Novation Nova, Yamaha A3000 and Korg 0/5RW). If room ever allows in the future, I will hopefully dust them off and integrate them back into the mothership...

I'd give ya a list, ol pal, ceptin that ever time I look through my plugin manager folders at all the dang plugs I got I think I should just go on and go to some sort of VST addiction counselor or somethin. It scares me near half to death. And, normally, I ain't afraid a man nor beast. So I'll just give ya the same (but paraphrased) answer Sarah Palin gave ol Katie Couric when Katie asked her what newspapers she read: Well, most of them...you know, all of them...that are put in front of me on a daily basis or whenever.

Hmm.. well the stuff I use most is: Z3TA+ 2 Rapture (full version + extra's) Dimension pro Pentagon (yep still nice) Studio Instruments Sound Center PSYN II (still has some nice dirty sounds) Padshop Pro Retrolouge BFD2 DCAM Synth Squad SonikSynth 2 FM8 Tassman 4 TruePianos (not very often). And for the free stuff: Alchemy Player Proteus VX (+ extra sound bank CD's) Sampletank Free (+ sound banks gotten with SonikSynth deal) Independence Free Komplete 7+8 players Skanner Microprism Plus a few free (a bit lesser and/or exotic) synths like: LaserBlade and ProtoPlasm (the full version is free now) Artphase DSK Analog Matrix MrRay22 etc., etc. I try out a lot of free stuff on my test system. Sometimes there is good stuff and sometimes it is bad (or boring). Sometimes things make it to my main system, but most times not..

RealGuitar, RealStrat, RealLPC, Ivory II Grands, Melodyne Assistant, Vienna Symphonic Library, EastWest Hollywood Strings, EastWest Fab Four, Vir2 Acoustic Legends HD, Vir2 Electr6ty, Guitar Rig 4 Pro. I also have AAS Strum Acoustic Sessions but I never use it. I also use the Fantom synthesizer that came built into the V-Studio 700. It is harware but is used as a plug-in. I don't know if you want to count these but I use several of the things packaged with X1 Producer: Session Drummer 3, SI-Electric Piano, and SI-Bass. I have looked at Dimension Pro but have not needed it so far. I have WaveLore's steel guitar for Kontakt but haven't had a chance to get into it. I have used external synths for this sound so far. EDIT: Just realized you asked for recommendations: Out of all this, I could not live without Ivory or RealGuitar. For orchestra, Vienna is way more efficient and easier to use than Hollywood (plus it has the whole orchestra) but since VSL no longer sells the same special edition packages as before, I am not sure what it would cost to get everything you need.

I have to steer clear of recommendations as I own just enough to be confused over what is better than anything else. But I guess I can say that I pretty much go to Ivory these days if I'm looking for a piano.
