What kind of wind screen???

I wonder what kind of wind screen the guy fighting to stand up on the beach, reporting on the hurricane is using. They have a guy on the weather channel standing out on the beach talking into a mic and you can hear a little wind but not much. He sounds pretty good considering. I wonder how much is wind screen and how much is EQ.

    I've wondered that same thing..... he can barely stand up in the breeze, but his voice is loud and clear..... and it looks like he's holding the mic about 12" away from his mouth.... hmmmmmm.....

    I've always heard that the best windscreen is the "Breaking" windscreen.  YMMV.

    Maybe they have a plugin that removes wind noise?  But, I have to agree, I was surprised at how well he was coming through.

    It's probably my buddy Kevin's omni RE50 and a stock foam windcsreen.

    Omni microphones have very little wind sensitivity... and the RE50 can operate in the rain fairly dependably.

    We just wring out the windscreen in between shots.
