What other computer keyboard keys or keyboard shortcuts are not working?
I've just started using 2016.12 and have skipped 2016.11. I first found out that my keyboard shortcut to "insert marker" was not working right and I've seen several posts about it. Today I found out that the default operations of delete key (edit/delete) and the F key (resizes all tracks to fit vertically in the window) are not working. Fortunately I found that if I assigned them using the keyboard shortcuts that they were working again. Are there any more keys or keyboard shortcuts not working right now or is this all?

Shift+A to open automation lanes and the up and down arrow keys for navigating tracks. The 2 shortcuts listed start working when the synth rack is moved from the upper right in the browser. Undock it or dock it anywhere else to workaround the problem. Others report that the delete key function also returns with this workaround. Hope this helps, -- Ron

I see, well you're right I did move the synth rack to I think was the default position, upper right side docked. I like it there. So are the 2 problems you listed: Shift+A to open automation lanes and the up and down arrow keys. Are these fixed by assigning them in Keyboard shortcuts and also by moving the synth rack? I’m glad we have some fixes to these. I’;m still wondering if there are any more.

Based on your post, I would guess that you might be hitting the wrong keys or something is wrong with your keyboard! :) :) :)
Try and move the synth rack to the upper right docked. Very likely you'll then have this problem too. You mentioned something may be wrong with the keyboard, well you may be more right than you realize. Some are reporting problems with the localization issue. An English guy in Germany had some problems like this and found out it's because the German keyboard has some differences. Once he turned off the localization it fixed his problem. I opened a song today that the F key and Delete key worked fine on. I couldn't figure out why, but now I know it's very likely the synth rack. Man this is really weird.

I found another post about the “delete key not working”. In this post they slowly figure out what's causing all this and it's indeed the Synth rack being Docked in the upper right. It's stealing the focus with some keys.
The only other key not included in my post is the "I" key for Inspector. This is another one that you need to redo using Keyboard Shortcuts.
Also the Synth Rack has been known to magically position itself docked in the upper right of the browser. in fact that happened to me and I was so glad it did, since that's where I prefer it to be, but that's when all these problems with certain computer keys started.

there is another one that is related to the broken insert marker shortcut: on a control surface like VS-700 you can use CMD+MARKER to open the marker list, which is no longer functional since the marker insert left us (interestingly, the dedicated default keyboard shortcut ALT+SHIFT+4 still seems to work ... which means adding another MIDI to keyboard translation with an external MIDI translator to temporarily fix that)

I also had to remap "I" for Inspector... Unfortunately, I think these monthly updates seem to give us more bugs. I don't want to be a downer, but Q&A testing would probably improve with less frequent releases...

Yes F11 is where my was set, now I'm trying to retrain myself to use the M key. I've been using their software since 1992 and I think that F11 was the default assignment, so you must have been using Cakewalk for a long time too. F11 is very handy since it's easier to find than the M. And I insert markers a good bit, so I hope they fix it soon.

After that, I mainly use markings on the fly when I hear some sort of error/issue that I may want to come back and address later. When F11 quit working, it became very frustrating to hit stop on the transport, right click and insert a marking. First world problems, eh? lol.

Yeah, I found the M binding - and it works on the fly. I just don't like it. F11 is what my hand goes for, and I don't need to look at the QWERTY keyboard to find it. I tend to prefer all my key-bindings on those function keys (in my opinion, this is why function keys exist in the first place).

I feel exactly the sam way as you about the function keys and you may want to revert back to 2016.10 or 2016.09 where it was working right. I know this is a bug, but a lot of us have been using this software for a long time and it's important for Cakewalk to let us continue to work as we prefer, especially when they change things on purpose. At least in this instance we'll get the F11 back.

^ I actually wonder if this might possibly be related to cross-coding for SonarMAC. Apple seems to be ditching the function keys (giving users a "touch strip" as a smokescreen to hide the fact that they still don't have a touchscreen). Other mac lines are sure to follow...
Not that we will ever know, however, because Cakewalk appears to be covering their tracks and pretending that they never mentioned anything SonarMac in the first place. lol.

Ctrl+F6 and Ctrl+Shift+F6 never worked in Sonar!
I've reassigned the old ones - Ctrl+ F9 and F10
Another crazy thing is that I can't assign < and > as keystrokes. (German Keyboard)
For Sonar they are not recognized...

I had the "delete" key issue today. Moving the Synth Rack to the bottom of the Browser window fixed it. I had the "insert marker" issue as well and moving the Synth Rack to the bottom of the Browser fixed it too. I did note that this only happens on older files, in my case. If I start with a template that has the Synth Rack on the top in the Browser everything works just fine.

Do we know if Cakewalk is aware of this bug?
Yes, there are several related posts, especially one about the Delete key not working. In those posts Cakewalk does reply and said it's a high priority. Unfortunately it first came up during 2016.11, which had this huge debacle with run time errors and plugins like CA-2A crashing. They needed to get that one fixed first and from what I can tell that's resolved. So I'd be really surprised if this wasn't fixed in the 2017.01 update.

ha ha I finally figured out what you + blades were talking about when I looked at my original post. I'm busted big time! Now everyone knows what my initial typing looks like after typing real fast and before I've fixed all the mistakes. I just re-edited it, and covered up the evidence. Thanks for letting me know. With the "insert marker" issue, it's different from the other key problems. In 2016.12 I don't think anyone is able to assign insert marker to any other key like F11 or F12 or any key period. It works just fine using the default assignment of M. So please clarify what key you're hitting for "insert marker
