What was the Special Surprise?
When the subscription model started, one of the upcoming features was billed as a Special Surprise. What was it? Did I miss it?

It was that "thing". You know...the thing. I don't know what it was mumpcake. I think it never panned out or they didn't make it known to us what it was.

..and the first one that wasn't Melodyne. Frankly, it surprised me. I didn't know you could use ARA for that. I think upsampling qualifies too, I don't think anyone was expecting 96 kHz recording quality to be retrofitable to 44.1 kHz projects.

Actually the surprise to me is that Friday's Tip of the Week is up to 184,000 views. My goal when I started was 10,000

The surprise for me was the $99 renewal fee!
The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better. I hope you mean the renewal thing as a positive one. Saving $50 was something I wasn't anticipating. Renewing was.

I really expected renewal price to be $199, with an early on price of $149. Certainly, pleasantly surprised at $99. Gotta love our awesome team of Bakers!

The responsiveness of CW, the new features such as patch points and aux tracks, the reduced renewal cost, a more solid product, they were all special surprises to me! It's a new and better generation of Sonar!!!

There are so many features to choose from, and each one is special to someone. So as others have done above, pick your own surprise! I think this entire past year has been a special surprise. Enough of a surprise to make Sonar Platinum my DAW of choice.
