Just voted today. I think it's interesting what this poll means to "you" or what "we" think it's saying. Sonar is now: 25% Reason is now: 60% & I don't consider Reason a DAW. It's more of an instrument to me. Similar to Kronos, or a Motif. More so than Sonar is anyway.

Looks like a Reason forum or two found out about the poll :-)

Either that or a persistant Reason user...

All I can tell you is that, besides the obvious Pro Tools, Logic is the single most used piece of software in my professional entourage. The vast majority of those folks don't really seem to spend much time on the internet reading or talking about the software they use. Doesn't surprise me that Reason would eventually emerge on top. Demographics...

The newer versions of Reason have incorporated their Record package and is, therefore, a full-featured DAW.

A pretty good one, too.

I see that Cakewalk FB'ed the poll.  They seem a little late to the game, tho it is still open.

Yes Reason 6 is a full-blown DAW, and if you're into beat/loop construction and DJing it's become a DAW of choice. I've stayed away from it mainly due to the copy protection, I have so many freakin' USB keys for that sort of thing it gets annoying!

Since you can vote as many times as you want, the poll is invalid. Seems like they would've thought of that.

Actually since version 6, it's been a full-fledged DAW, with audio tracks (the Record program was integrated into Reason).
I hardly ever use the recording features though, I just use it as a compositional tool to make demos.

I agree it may not be scientifically valid, but if everyone here votes for Sonar, that will encourage more people to use Sonar, which will result in more support and product development for us.

Noted. Thanks for straightening me out on that.

I went to their site to check it out, looks pretty cool...... listened to a couple of demos, I know these demos could probably be made on just about any DAW, but they were not what I was expecting. Very organic stuff, where I was expecting more dance oriented music.

I would consider Studio One to be Sonar's real competitor because people tend to be either PC or Mac people and Studio One is coming on strong in the PC market.  I have no official numbers but it appears to be the fastest growing.

The piano roll and drag-n-drop audio/midi isn't in the same league as Sonar. They've offered a tremendous upgrade for 4,5 users. I bought the 6 upgrade so now I will get 7 when it comes out. As far as loop and beat construction, Sonar does this well. Few people would shudder to do this but grab some loops and one shots and see how well Sonar works as a looper tool. Octo REX is no Beatscape. Reason 7 will no longer require their dongle. I don't mind it since I have 4 machines. I only use them one at a time so I don't have to buy extra licenses, just plug in the dongle.

I always stay away from those polls. We tend to treat our software like it is a religion. We declare jihad when someone criticizes the tools we use. I won't suffer from lack of self esteem for using a DAW even if it's rated #19 out of 20.
