What's your favourite delay / reverb FX?

What are you most often using with your Sonar projects for delay and reverb?

Sonitus delay?

Breverb? Perfect Space?

or 3rd party?

I still like the Pantheon. Breverb is doing well too.  FX3 Sound Stage if I can ever get it to work under Windows 8 64 bit. I had it working in Vista 64 bit. Perfect Space also has usages. I have never used the Sonitus reverb.  Don't ask me why either. I simply don't know. Sonitus delay because it works.

If I'm tracking a guitar part with delay, I'll use a hardware delay (Boss pedal) going in. If it's delay added to something later, the Sonitus one works fine.

Reverb - Sonitus to get a nice rough mix to track to, then Perfect Space with Bricasti impulses when I'm doing the final mix.

I personally like Ircam Verb Session (from Flux Home), and Waves IR-L, although the former is still only 32-bit. Ircam Verb is a monster, but expensive! Verb Session is much more economical. Waves IR-L is great as a convolution reverb, but I don't believe the Waves IR-1 is worth the money. I'm still looking for decent reverbs. I tried Breverb: It's nice to have as a bonus to X2, and easy to use.

I'm really enjoying the Plate module at the moment - it adds just the right amount of "sheen" to certain tracks without washing it all out

Sonitus for delay which works just great. For reverb I really like Breverb, although I also use the Softube Mix Bundle's TSAR-1R reverb, and the Scarlett reverb that comes with the Focusrite Scarlett audio interface.

I've been using Valhallah VintageVerb for everything reverb since it came out! Super cool and flexible! For delay I use the Sonitus and sometimes the Space Echo from Guitar Rig.

Reverb: EAReverb and Valhalla Room for hall/room/plate reverbs. Guitar Rig 5 for spring reverb.

Delay: Haven't used much but maybe MDE-X and Guitar Rig 5 (just because I happen to own them and they look useful).

Great post. I've used pantheon for years and years, but only very recently have wondered if I might be missing out on some better verbs. I should really check out some of these suggestions. (I've never even worked with the IR verbs that I have owned with past versions of Sonar!) Guess I've been living under a rock.

I don't use reverbs very often but when  do I like extreme stuff so I use 2C Aether effects or maybe Laserbrew in Reaktor.

That sounds interesting! Being half price gets a big name reverb into an affordable price range.

I reckon this is a 64 bit plug-in, isn't it? I couldn't find the info on their website.

Can you get a demo version with those iLok plug-ins? The provided sound samples will always sound great, but I'd like to give it a try on my work before spending money.

I got the RP-Verb and RP-Delay from Rob Papen and I find my self using them a lot! If you buy RP-Verb you get RP-Delay for free. These plugs can be used "normaly" or in some really extreme and creative ways.

I also use Sonitus and Timeless2 a lot for delays, as well as DubStation.

For reverb I love Altiverb but it has some issues with bit-bridging. I hope they release the Windows version of Altiverb 7 really soon!!! But I really like Sonitus Reverb as well. I use it all the time and find it perfect to put on single tracks or in FX Chains if neccesary because of it's relatively low CPU consumption.

I used to use pantheon, particularly when tracking, but have moved over to Breverb almost exclusively.  I sometimes use Perfect Space.

As for delays, I love the PsycheDelay in Guitar Rig 5.

Oh yeah, Breverb... for some reason I just don't reach for that... ever... I'm sure I'm missing out. Should play with it a little.

Forgot to mention, I use the TSAR-1r a lot for drums. It's doing a nice job with that.

Hi, yes it is a 64 bit plug-in. I think when it was first released it was 32 bit? but don't quote me on that. You can download the demo, but need an iLok 2.
I've only had it a couple of weeks, but I'm really pleased with it. The reverb feels part of the sound, whereas I've sometimes struggled with the feeling that the sound (let's say vocal) was sitting on top of the reverb. It just seems to glue things together somehow.
There's no 'metallic' taste too, if you see what I mean.
Other reverb plug ins I've used are:
    IK Multimedia CSR (excellent)
Audioease Altiverb (never felt at home with it but keep trying)
East West Quantum Leap spaces (can sound glorious on some things, but I find it quite limited on what I can use it on)
    Redline Reverb (very useable)

UAD DM-1L and DreamVerb. I have EchoBoy, but it seems hard to use and set up for me.

Have all you who like Sonitus delay compared it to other delays?  I have always avoided it, assuming (perhaps with prejudice) that Sonitus fx are not that good in sound quality.

For delay, Sonitus is still the king for control of the tonal quality of the delay and program sync control.

I have been trying so hard to like the new Breverb but honestly, every time I use it, it seems they spent all this software muscle to accurately model a crappy 80's reverb unit. My 20 year old Alesis midiverb 2 sounds as good or better. I like the stereo control but each of the emulations just sound trashy and lo fi to me. The Lexicon Pantheon was so much more versatile and polished sounding in production...control and sense of space was awesome.

So its good we got rid of that in all the new versions of X1-X2...jeeze!!

The Sonitus may not have the bells and whistles of the new Breverb but, its basic sounds are far better quality IMHO

I hate to sound like a broken record (what's that?), but the FX-Reverb & FX-Delay DX plugs have always sounded the cleanest to me.

Since getting UAD cards, the EMT-640, Dreamverb (very crashy), and RealVerb all sound pretty good and are my main go-to verbs, but I still find myself going to the DSP-FX stuff for certain things like lead guitars and vocals.   I haven't really found a delay that I like on UAD platform.  The next best delay after the DSP-FX, IMHO, is the Sonitus Delay.

On a side note, I received an email from the DSP-FX folks and they unfortunately won't be coming out with any updated versions of their plugs.  Shame cause they sound damn good.

+1, I don't care for Breverb at all.  The Pantheon sounded as good as the Lexicon LXP15 rack reverb that I had and got rid of when Pantheon came along with Sonar.  Shame.

"when Pantheon came along with Sonar"

Fot those who have the install DVDs of Sonar 8.5 (or 8, i guess), it is possible to run a custom install, and install only the Pantheon, so you get it under X2 (i think it is a 32 bits plugs.

For plates - the UAD emulations are great I use them until I run out of card resources. If you are interested in a great free reverb try the Bootsy Epicverb - it is really nice - as are all his stuff. Mine works with bit bridge but that could be an issue for some. I actually like BREVERB alot for halls. I have found very few longer reverb time plugs that actually sound good in a medium to dense mix. But this one seems to work... at least to my ears and those around me... I would also cime in that the old FX REVERB was very nice - but alas not great in 64 bit. For Delays I like Sonitus for clean sounding delay effects. For grungy old tape delay - I picked up Nomad factory's Echoes for pretty cheap a while back and find I use it alot on guitars and even some vocals....

If you don't mind iLok2 the most neutral reverb imo is the new EA PhoenixVerb.
The only reverb I find I turn up rather than down & don't have eq as much. There's a problem with x64 & gui issues so if you check it out be aware. Should be fixed soon.

Valhalla, 2C's Aether B2, Lexicon & others mentioned all good choices.
