What's *your* sonar path?

Mine is:

"C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Temp\is-HBQ6D.tmp\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\SONARPLT.exe"

Should it not be:

c:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\SONARPLT.exe

????

Mine is what you are expecting it should be. Are you looking at a path setting? Or the properties of a shortcut?

Your shortcut is finding the right path to the exe file. Navigate to to the exe file in C:\Program Files and right click, copy and paste a new shortcut on your home screen. Check the properties, it should be what you are expecting.

I know how to do that. Today I ran my control surface plugin in the debugger that starts Sonar specifically from c:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\SONARPLT.exe. I was alarmed to see I had no Themes menu item in Preferences. I thought I had found a flaw in the 3-2017 build but when I checked the build was waaaay old and so I checked then the properties of the shortcut and found this anomaly. I just changed the path in the debugging section of Visual Studio. But it's still alarming. This is on my dev laptop, I haven't checked the DAW but you can better bet I will.

I think they are temp files extracted ready for installation.

The clue is they are in a temp folder.

    Nope.
That's where for whatever reason the installers are leaving them instead of c:\Program Files.... Where the SonarPlt there is way out of date.

The installer even updates the shortcut to the temp folder.

Just correct the path for the normal Sonar Platinum shortcut and delete the files in the temp folder.

If your into it check your registry to see if the temp path is there.

If it's in the registry I can give you a copy of the correct registry entries and send it to you. But not till a little later tonight.

There are 2 main registry trees where Cakewalk entries are.
software/Cakewalk Music Software/ and everything under that

But I'm not infront of my PC so can't specify which hive it starts with eg HKLM etc
