For me it's a Kemper Profiling Amp.
Sounds fantastic and reamping via spdif couldn't be easier.

Recording - prints a mono DI track (L) and mono track of the amp you're playing (R).
Reamping - send the DI back into the Kemper, change to another profile, arm a new track (mono or stereo), press play to record the reamped track.

Mine is also the Kemper Profiling Amp!

In regards to your description above, is there any latency re-amping back through the spdif? As it felt like there was a little doing it through the analog circuitry.

New studio monitors - JBL LSR308's.  I can now mix bass on the first shot.  Before with Samson Resolv 6.5a monitors I had a problem getting the bass right and would take several mixes.

A nice little valve preamp.  And a PJ bass.  The two together record beautifully.

I originally wanted a Jazz bass, but played this in the music shop where I teach, and fell in love with it.

Through the preamp, EQ, Ca-2a and maybe a smidgen of Sat Knob (great plugin ) set to keep high = Bass heaven.
Sometimes ad a bit of chorus, and maybe delay - lurvely...

Oh, and arriving in August is the best new addition.  A sibling for my son.

We will then have the makings of a power trio.

Carry on.

My RME fireface ufx is what I'm most happy about now.
The latest purchase is a behringer patchbay, but I've not it installed yet. I'm Really looking forward to be able to use outboard gear in a more creative way without too much hassle.

And I'm waiting for a used Yamaha Motif ES rack. It's in the mail right now :-)

I do enjoy the flexibility of "TotalMix" with the UFX; was the upgrade a "life changer" over the i/o of the FW?
I really don't think so.
Ultimately can I run with slightly lower latency; pretty much.
Maybe the improved AD cleans up the mix, IF you are using lots of live tracks.
The way I work, a few guitar tracks, a few vocal tracks; I'm not sure its huge.

Probably the most useful recent addition was a 500GB SSD in an eSATAp case for Komplete, Addictive Drums/Keys, Maschine and other sample content. It hooks up to my laptop with just the eSATAp cable and on my desktop I can use eSATA and USB power or just USB3. Very useful!

My wife's new tablet.
Part of that deal was that I got her massively underused 64 bit W7 PC.
This replaced the Vista laptop that I had been getting by with for a while.

Not that recent but the last thing was a "Quiet" case. Essential for when I'm recording voice overs for videos.

The difference it made was so great I had to check that the computer was booted when I first started it.

No latency here, everything locks right up.
Might be due to the additional conversion steps of d/a -> a/d into your audio interface?

Install a liquid cooling system onto my CPU.....at this new location, the room acoustics really brought out the computer fan noise once sonar was working away.

Once the liquid cooling system was installed the annoying fan noise is reduced significantly.

I can echo this one. The combination of liquid cooling, and an SSD system drive have really taken the edge of the noise generated by the fan . . . when Sonar is workin' hard.

I did a lot of research around this while I was trying to solve it and found some very interesting articles around this which led me to trying this. Here is one such paper:
http://audiosystemsgroup.com/SAC0305Ferrites.pdf
I had some other links to case studies as well but can't find them right now.

I knew about the use of these for video cables (many HDMI and older VGA cables had these) but never thought that they could be used to clean up audio signals. It made a huge difference for me. I now have 2 cores clamped on the termination points of all my cables at home including my mic and guitar cables mic and power cables. I was initially worried about some signal loss but couldn't perceive anything and there is a marked loss of noise at high gain levels.

It's been already a while in my rig but Axe FX II (+dedicated pedalboard from Fractal Audio) has been one of the best investments ever. With Axe Edit 3.xx I can dial virtually any guitar or bass sound I want quickly and with ease - and save them as presets for later use.

The other investment is a step to opposite direction; real Hammond organ from the early 70's. Digital organs sound great until you hear the real thing. :)

Axe FX II is almost as good as my best real guitar amps but it's million times more versatile.
