My favorite thing in the whole wide world is to go for a nice long drive in the country. Fill up the tank in my pick'em'up truck, bring the dogs with me in the cab (I don't let them ride in the bed), bring the wife if she isn't gone for work, drive until half the tank is gone, then head back home. My two favorite times of year are right now when the corn is high, and in the winter after we've had a big snow. I have some amazing pictures I've taken over the years of 20 foot high snow drifts out here. You can drive across the entire state of Iowa (and I would imagine Nebraska too) on gravel roads. Haven't done it in a while though. It costs $65 to fill the tank in my truck.

Sittin on the deck on a cool evening with my wife while our two dogs check out our secluded backyard...listening to the sounds of the evening...feeling the breeze..watching our surrounding trees swaying...sipping my martini.

That and, like Mike, knowing that the  horrible heat in July and August also allows me to be able to eat every real, homegrown tomato I can stuff in my gullet.

    Making other folks laugh.

Walking into my cool house and plopping down in my recliner after a long, grueling, hot day of work in the garden center knowing I'm off for 2 whole days! That was Tuesday, temp about 100 F and humid as the Mekong delta.
I drank so much water my eyes are swimming.

Hmm... a favorite "G" rated event eh?

Just looking out a window when we're having one of those perfect Pacific Northwest days that's cool, but sunny, with tons of blue sky and lots of white fluffy clouds and everything outside is green and healthy (and maybe a good view of a mountain with snow on it).  Add some small furry wildlife (like a few squirrels and bunnies) plus some feathered types as well and I'm a pretty happy guy.

Now add a tall, good looking brunette (er, or blond or redhead - ok, ANY nice female with hair - preferably long) and, well now we're going to lose our "G" rating so never mind...

Pretty much this one, except I don't have dogs and I used up my entitlement to sip Martini several years back.

.......Similarly I love to sit on the porch on a cool evening either with or without the wife. I even go to sleep out there either on the hammock or on one of the chairs. I have a canine friend that comes over on a regular basis, adopted I guess. A small black dog of some kind.A quiet well behaved breed I like. Love the sights and sounds outside.

Tomatoes, starting to get tons of those, and yellow longneck squash. Tastes great cut up and stir fried in butter.

    Bub-listening to the radio too?

Youroldpal- Sounds like a real treat.

RobertB- Yes even on the most hot of days nothing quite beats a stream close by.

57Greggy-Working the weekly grind I can relate well to going home and having no obligations for a few days. Of course now I have obligated myself to play again on the weekend..........I must be nuts.

craigb- Never been to the northwest, like to visit sometime. In my case I'm sure my wife would have a serious problem with the brunette.

Jonbouy- The martini would just require a pit stop interupting an otherwise wonderful experience anyways. Reminds me of the redneck pic I seen with a guy that had a functional commode mounted to his front porch. I think he was the same one that made a canoe out of duct tape. In the pic he was using the thing,I guess to demonstrate its usefulness. The dogs could also be an interruption always licking and wanting your attention.....or depending on breed, chasing other furry things around the yard and barking. You have it made.

      Karyn- Thats just fuelish!

If gluttony is not excluded … it would be an antipasto platter that included roasted red peppers, prosciutto, olives (green with the pits), Reggiano parmesan, fresh mozzarella, Sopressata and pepperoncini.

If gluttony is excluded ... side one of Van Morrison's Moon Dance on vinyl (that is one of those perfect album sides IMHO).

I have no interest in sitting on the patio or porch or whatever.  there's only about 2 weeks of decent temperature weather in the spring and 2 weeks in the fall.  the rest of the time the weather is not condusive to "sitting" IMO.

my favorite G rated pleasure is sitting in the AIR CONDITIONED room with my wife having a pleasant conversation or discussing what stupid thing the dogs are doing at the time.

I have a 22 gallon tank, how much does yours hold?

If it ever got that expensive here for 22 gallons of gas there would be riots in the streets. It got so bad with people driving off without paying for their gas when it was $4.00 a gallon that some of the places out here started making you pay first. You used to be able to hit a button on the pump that said 'Pay Inside' so you could go in and get a soda, snack etc and pay for it all at once.

Well, it's a quad cab so they take the back seat and she sits up front with me. But she's gone 2 ~ 3 weeks out of the month for work so they usually have free reign of the truck. :)

Hmmm.... this summer, it's seeing the smile on my 9-month-old grandson's face.  He can light up a room and melt my heart all at once.  :)  And I get to see him almost all day every day this summer.

Besides that, sunbathing for an hour with a good book....unless it's just too doggoned HOT!

Walking thru the woods listening to the birds in the morning, or walking thru the woods in the deep snow (rare around here, but peaceful.)
