What's the shelf life of one of Bapu's posts?
And should they each have a "best consumed by" label?
In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

The "You cannot make 2 consecutive posts within such short amount of time!" ought to be a clue.

Could we cure your posts (like becan) to make them last longer? Maybe adding salt or sugar or smoking could help?

OK. And on second thought, becan doesn't really last long anyway!

Not sure if "shelf life" is the correct measurement, perhaps using the term "half-life" is closer? They're (Am) Radio-active!

Bapu's posts live in RAM, for faster access. So it depends on how much RAM you have. That's why RAM is everything. Parson said it, but even more importantly, BAPU demonstrates it w/ each of his posts.

A Bapu Fred however is another matter. Bapu freds serve an important function to the Coffee House. They ensure that no worthwhile fred can descend into serious conversation before being swept of the front page. For that I'm grateful. (or Am oui?)

“Best Consumed By”, “Expiration Dates” and “Freshness Dates” (affectionately referred to as expirer-ee dates in the biz) are serious business in the food, consumer healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. They normally require that some standard (or definition) has to be meet for a particular attribute of the product, ingredient concentration or efficacy of a particular active ingredient. In my experience wrt expiration dates, the testing usually involves some sort of accelerated aging process that includes storage in a stability oven that subjects the sample to an elevated temperature and humidity. Testing at certain time intervals would then be performed and the results at different storage temperatures (e.g., 20, 40 and 60 degrees C) would be compared to each other and known standards. There is an FDA monograph detailing test methods for given products and ingredients. The tests for stability, efficacy, freshness, etc. may include chemical / biological testing for active ingredient concentration and efficacy, physical test methods that challenge the products mechanical stability and biological testing to show that the added antimicrobial agents are suppressing microbe growth. So, in the absence of a specific FDA monograph entry for a bapu post count, if an expiration date needs to be established for the effectiveness of a bapu post count, a panel of post count experts will need to assemble, gather information and suggest a battery of tests based on their information. Approval of what actually defines a bapu post count, its efficacy and how to establish said efficacy is ultimately made at the congressional level.
